The Opportunity

  • Joining Roche’s Institute of Human Biology (IHB), part of Roche Pharma R&D (pRED), focused on human model systems for drug discovery and personalized medicine.

  • Working in an interdisciplinary team of biologists, engineers, and data scientists.

  • Contributing to the advancement of predictive human model systems.

  • Internship based in the Microtechnologies Group at IHB.

  • Responsibilities include fabricating and characterizing microfluidic systems using techniques like micromilling, lithography, and laser cutting.

  • Involving stem cells and organoids in applications.

  • Receiveing mentorship, accessing to innovative infrastructure, and a collaborative network.
     

Who you are

  • Highly independent and diligent, thriving in a lab environment.

  • Strong work ethic with a positive, team-focused approach

  • Master’s degree in Bioengineering, Microengineering, Biotechnology, or a related field, completed within the last year or about to complete their studies soon

  • Hands-on experience with microfabrication techniques such as lithography, soft-lithography, micromilling, or laser cutting.

  • Proven ability to handle mammalian cell culture, stem cells, and/or organoids.

  • Experience with microscopy, CAD tools, image analysis, and software programming.

  • Strong communication, passion for scientific research, and excellent teamwork abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate optimally with diverse partners.

  • Genuine curiosity in drug development and medicine.

The preferred start date of this internship is September 2025 at the latest.
