AltaMed offers mentoring services for youth as a supplement to educational and occupational skills training available through our existing Workforce Development program. Technology skills training, career exploration, and leadership development are all benefits for the thousands who have formally gone through our Workforce Development program.
Workforce Development coordinates of all of AltaMed’s internships, including AmeriCorps and clinical placement. More broadly, though, it exists to promote the sustainable growth of AltaMed’s workforce, one day seeking to supply 10-20 percent of our employees, and aims to ensure that AltaMed is hiring from within the communities we serve with greater retention in mind.
Job Overview
OVERVIEW
The Quality Department is responsible for providing support services to AltaMed’s clinics in the areas of root cause analysis, process improvement techniques, and working with corporate Operations staff in the definition and enhancement of existing processes in order to improve clinic efficiencies and patient outcomes.
The Quality Department identifies quality of care or patient satisfaction issues, tracks and trends specified patients/populations conditions that support the clinical and care management of these patients; supports quality improvement projects and initiatives, measures effectiveness of programmatic interventions as needed; reviewing literature evidenced-based practices, performing workflow analyses and communicating with internal and external customers. Formulates recommendations on program efficiencies and effectiveness. Assist in development of development in AltaMed’s reporting to external agencies to meet regulatory requirements (ICE, P4P, HEDIS, NCQA).
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Intern will take on tasks such as the following:
- Ability to work with other staff and outside contacts/vendors, handle multiple ongoing department tasks with great customer service attitude.
- Ability to make deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
- Assists in coordination and execution of population health outreach projects
- Ability to develop and assist clinic staff in the implementation of population health improvement activities.
- Excellent public relations and communication skills. (As they will be interacting with patients and community members.)
- Must be computer literate, including proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Must be detail and results oriented.
- Supports efforts on workflow analysis and process mapping to identify areas for improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Looking for students pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Information, or related healthcare field. In addition:
- Able to intern at 2040 Camfield Avenue (Corporate) location
- Attend meetings at different sites/clinics if needed
- Can work up to 29 hours a week, 20 hours per week minimum
- Bilingual is preferred (Spanish)
- Hybrid Role: remote days based on number of hours worked per week
