Flexible Workplace
This role is a flex office/home role and comes with the expectation you will engage onsite a certain number of working days per month, in our brand-new office located in Dublin, Ohio, with your Bold Penguin colleagues and customers. On-site workdays will be managed at the team level to maintain an environment focused on work-life balance, innovation velocity, and the delivery of exceptional customer experiences.
In this role, you will be expected to work 20% of working days per month (4 days per month on average) in the office. This is a minimum expectation. All employees are welcome to work in the office as much as they like. Applicants must be local (within 35 miles) to Dublin, Ohio.
YOUR ROLE
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Insurance Support Associate to support the development of a book of business in the Excess & Surplus (E&S) lines space. In this role, you will play an integral role in assisting sales team by supporting sales efforts, managing client relationships, and utilizing digital platforms and insurtech solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a strong foundation in commercial insurance and E&S lines.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Sales & Business Development Support

  • Assist sales team in prospecting and generating new business opportunities, specifically for small businesses with E&S insurance needs.
  • Help educate potential clients on their risk exposures and assist in recommending coverage solutions.
  • Leverage digital tools and insurtech platforms to streamline quoting, binding, and policy issuance processes, ensuring efficiency.
  • Provide administrative support in the preparation of proposals, applications, and client presentations.


Account Management & Client Service

  • Assist with managing client accounts, providing support on endorsements, renewals, and coverage changes.
  • Respond to client inquiries promptly, assist with policy updates, and help clients navigate claims when necessary.
  • Help prepare for and participate in annual policy reviews to suggest coverage adjustments based on business growth or changing risks.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and carrier requirements and assist in maintaining accurate records.


Collaboration & Team Support

  • Collaborate with internal teams, wholesalers, MGAs, and E&S carriers to support the placement of hard-to-insure risks.
  • Provide administrative assistance in maintaining relationships with clients, vendors, and partners.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to grow knowledge of commercial insurance, E&S lines, and digital platforms.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-2 years in commercial insurance, preferably in an E&S setting or with a strong interest in the industry.
  • Digital Expertise: Familiarity with or interest in learning digital platforms for E&S quoting and binding.
  • Industry Knowledge: Basic understanding of underwriting guidelines and risk assessments, with a strong desire to learn more.
  • Sales & Communication Skills: Strong communication skills with a proactive approach to building relationships and solving problems.
  • Licensing: Active P&C license (willingness to obtain surplus lines license is preferred).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods of time, (up to 8 hours per day) at a desk working on a computer.
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment for extended periods of time, including but not limited to, a mouse, keyboard, phone and video conferencing.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to access and navigate the corporate office.

The expected starting salary range for this role at Bold Penguin is $45,000 to $60,000. This position offers a competitive salary range that may vary based on experience and qualifications.
