Purpose:

Floor & Decor’s Learning and Development Team seeks a dynamic Instructional Designer – Creative Content Developer to design and develop innovative, engaging training programs for our retail stores, distribution centers, and customer support center associates. This role requires a blend of instructional design expertise and creative content development, emphasizing graphic design, multimedia production, and e-learning creation.

As an Instructional Designer, you will collaborate with business leaders to assess learning needs, define performance gaps, and create high-quality instructional content that enhances associate performance and drives business outcomes. You will leverage Adobe Creative Suite, Vyond, Axonify, and other digital design tools to develop visually appealing, interactive, and engaging learning materials.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Training and Development, Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, or equivalent experience.

  • 5-7 years of experience in instructional design, content development, and multimedia production, preferably in a fast-paced environment such as retail or hospitality.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) for graphic and multimedia design.

  • Experience with e-learning tools such as Axonify, Articulate Storyline, Vyond, and Captivate.

  • Strong knowledge of LMS platforms (Axonify preferred).

  • Instructional Design Expertise – Strong understanding of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and the ability to design blended learning solutions (e-learning, ILT, and video-based training).

  • Project & Communication Skills – Ability to manage priorities, collaborate with stakeholders, and convey complex information clearly, emphasizing exceptional written communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency in animation, video editing, and interactive design.

  • Technical knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or AR/VR for advanced digital learning development.

  • Experience designing accessible learning content that meets WCAG and other accessibility standards.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Learning Needs Assessment & Design – Collaborate with business partners to identify learning needs, define performance gaps, and develop targeted training solutions.

  • Instructional Content Development – Design and develop engaging e-learning modules, instructor-led training, job aids, simulations, animations, and videos to support business objectives.

  • Multimedia Integration – Apply graphic design and multimedia production techniques to create high-quality training materials, ensuring an engaging and visually appealing learner experience.

  • LMS & Content Deployment – Publish and maintain learning content within the Learning Management System (LMS) and ensure role-based curriculum alignment.

  • Project Management – Manage multiple learning projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and quality execution.

  • Continuous Improvement – Assess and enhance the effectiveness of learning content by incorporating stakeholder feedback and performance metrics.

  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement—Work closely with subject matter experts, business leaders, and instructional designers to ensure that learning solutions align with organizational needs.

WORKING CONDITIONS (TRAVEL & ENVIRONMENT):

  • Travel – approximately 20% of the job will require travel to stores and regional training events.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles.  The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderately quiet.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY    REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
