Job Description

Job Summary:

The Instructional Designer is responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, implementing and evaluating learning solutions for multiple business units using a variety of training tools and techniques. This position will utilize knowledge of instructional design methodologies to consult with various business partners and Talent Development professionals to create, modify, and enhance a diverse array of complex instructional design projects for the purpose of improving organizational effectiveness. In this role, the Instructional Designer will work on site while simultaneously managing multiple projects from end-to-end with minimal direct supervision ensuring all project work and deliverables are accurate, instructionally sound, free of errors and completed within imposed deadlines.

Job Duties:

  • Apply advanced knowledge of instructional design, technologies, and adult learning theory to propose learning solutions. Use ADDIE process to design and develop topical outlines, storyboards and engaging training content using a variety of modalities. Ensure content meets learning objectives, is in appropriate sequence and drives improvement
  • Conduct needs analysis as an internal consultant and apply sound instructional design principles and methodologies to identify gaps in performance and validate learning needs. Establish learning objectives to design appropriate learning strategies that drive results. Create assessments that ensures training content addresses learning objectives
  • Partner with leadership, SMEs, and Talent Development professionals for training needs discussions, training content and project approvals, or other project-related activities. Manage stakeholder relationships to clearly understand the business, target audience, and content needs to construct learning and performance outcomes.
  • Implement approved training content by packaging and publishing SCORM compliant courses in the Learning Management System (LMS).  Conduct train-the-trainer (T3) sessions for all instructor-led courses.
  • Evaluate effectiveness and quality of own project work and training course content by conducting an ongoing assessment and modifying programs as needed while measuring retention, impact and engagement metrics. 
  • Ensure content is delivered with high quality, meets style guidelines and within efficient timelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Systems Design, Education, or other related field, or MUST have equivalent work experience in Instructional Design
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in Instructional Design
  • Minimum two (2) years of proficiency with multimedia and eLearning tools such as Articulate Storyline/360, Vyond, Camtasia 9, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Minimum one (1) year experience with Photoshop, SnagIt, or other image editing tool
  • Strong working knowledge of uploading, testing, and troubleshooting SCORM compliant courses into a Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Strong working knowledge of Adult Learning Theory and the ADDIE model for Instructional Design
  • Advanced consultative, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong background in creating blended programs with interactive online learning to include interactive scenarios and branching
  • Strong content and project management skills with the ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize work
  • Effective time management skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to monitor own work to ensure content is accurate, properly formatted, free of spelling and grammatical errors, etc. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal/written), presentation and collaborative skills
  • Highly demonstrated ability to author course content from end-to-end. 
  • Knowledge of auto finance industry preferred.
