A day in the life

We are seeking a seasoned instructional designer to create engaging and effective training materials focused on accounting processes, both within and outside of the ERP system. This role supports the continuous development of accounting professionals, ensuring clarity and proficiency in tools and processes critical to the organization's success. This role reports to the Accounting Systems Program Director and joins a team that is responsible for managing the systems, processes and optimization of our Global Accounting teams. Experience in Accounting is preferred, but not required. The ideal candidate will excel in stakeholder engagement and detail-oriented, innovative learning design.

Key responsibilities include:

Instructional Material Development:

  • Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive training materials, including job aids, Quick Reference Guides (QRGs), FAQs, and eLearning modules, tailored to accounting processes such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash/Lease, Property Accounting, and Corporate Accounting, as well as job aids to train the field on related Accounting processes.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to capture and translate complex accounting workflows into clear, concise instructional content.

ERP and Accounting System Training:

  • Develop learning modules for ERP systems (e.g., Peoplesoft, Yardi, Blackline) and ensure alignment with best practices and organizational standards.
  • Stay updated on system updates and integrate changes into training materials promptly.

Onboarding and Skill Development:

  • Create onboarding programs for new accounting team members, ensuring rapid acclimation to tools, processes, and organizational culture.
  • Develop training for foundational accounting skills such as reconciliation, analytics, and research to address identified skill gaps.

Program Assessment and Improvement:

  • Design tools and methodologies to assess training effectiveness, including surveys, quizzes, and performance metrics. Liase with Prologis’ Organizational Talent team to align survey methodology.
  • Revamp and enhance training programs based on feedback and evolving business needs.

Documentation and Knowledge Management:

  • Ensure all key training materials are up-to-date, version-controlled, and accessible via appropriate platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Workday Learning).
  • Document standardized workflows and maintain a centralized knowledge repository.
  • Actively partner with Prologis’ Talent Development to ensure alignment with Prologis’ broader learning strategy.

Building blocks for success

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Accounting, Education, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience designing and implementing training programs, preferably in an accounting or ERP-focused role.
  • Proficiency in eLearning development tools (e.g., Articulate, Camtasia) and learning management systems.
  • Previous experience developing training modules for accounting processes and familiarity with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or Peoplesoft.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to simplify and present complex concepts.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a corporate accounting environment.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and other collaboration tools.
  • Familiarity with change management and process improvement methodologies.

Hiring Salary Range of: $96,000 - $118,000. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target) to be determined by the candidate’s location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
