Ciena recherche un(e) ingénieur(e) ou spécialiste multidisciplinaires pour mener à bien des projets de photonique (principalement en photonique intégrée) au niveau des technologies avancées. Le rôle consiste à identifier, développer et évaluer des technologies dans le domaine de la photonique pour les futurs modems cohérents de Ciena dans un horizon de 3 à 5 ans ainsi que pour de potentielles applications futures en photonique.

La candidate ou le candidat travaillera à nos bureaux de Québec et assumera le rôle et les responsabilités suivantes :

  • Contribuer à la veille technologique sur des composants photoniques pour les futurs modems cohérents ainsi que pour de futures applications photoniques;
  • Produire et communiquer des revues de littérature sur les technologies émergentes;
  • Développer une compréhension des requis internes pour les modems cohérents;
  • Tester en laboratoire les composants photoniques en évaluation;
  • Interagir avec les équipes de développement internes et fournisseurs externes;
  • Définir et collaborer avec d’autres groupes pour la réalisation de prototypes;
  • Établir des collaborations universitaires et académiques dans les domaines pertinents.

Exigences :

  • Le (La) candidat(e) détient un baccalauréat dans une domaine technique pertinent: génie physique, génie électrique, optique, physique appliquée avec un minimum de 5 années d’expérience dans l’industrie de la photonique. Idéalement vous possédez une maîtrise ou un doctorat dans un domaine relié à la photonique;
  • Connaissances approfondies des composants de photoniques intégrées (modulateur et récepteur cohérent, laser accordable, amplificateur …);
  • Posséder des notions avancées multidisciplinaires en optique, mécanique et électronique;
  • Habileté à collaborer et mener des équipes multidisciplinaires;
  • Habileté à concevoir les plans et méthodes de tests pour les composants photoniques;
  • De l’expérience reliée à la caractérisation de circuits photoniques intégrés incluant les méthodes de tests DC et RF pour les composants actifs et passifs;
  • Vous êtes familier avec l’industrie de la photonique et des télécommunications et possédez un réseau de contacts établi dans ces domaines;
  • Vous possédez de la rigueur, êtes structuré et organisé, avez le sens de l’initiative et possédez un fort désir d’innover et avez démontré votre leadership dans des projets passés;
  • Joueur d’équipe communiquant de façon claire (synthèse), pro-active et en mode solution;
  • Maîtrise du français et de l’anglais écrit et oral.

How You Will Contribute:

Ciena is looking for a multidisciplinary engineer or specialist to contribute to advanced technology photonic projects (mainly integrated photonics). The advanced technology effort consists of identifying, developing and evaluating photonic technologies for future coherent modem on a 3 to 5 year horizon and also for future potential photonic applications.

The candidate will work from our Québec City office and will assume the following role and responsibilities:

  • Contribute to technology watch on photonic components for future coherent modems and other future photonic applications;
  • Write and communicate literature review on emerging and advanced technologies;
  • Develop a strong understanding of internal coherent modem requirements;
  • Test in the labs photonic components under evaluation;
  • Interact with internal development teams and external suppliers;
  • Defined and collaborate with other groups to realize prototypes;
  • Establish collaborations with universities/academia aligned with advanced technology fields.

Must Haves:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required in a relevant technical field: engineering physics or electrical engineering, optics, applied physics along with a minimum of 5 year experience in the photonic industry. Preferably, you have a master’s or a doctorate degree in a field related to photonics;
  • In depth knowledge of integrated photonic components (coherent modulator and receiver, tunable laser, amplifier …);
  • Demonstrate advanced multidisciplinary knowledge in optics, mechanics and electronics;
  • Ability to collaborate and lead multidisciplinary teams;
  • Ability to elaborate test plans and methods for photonic components;
  • Hands-on experience related to the characterization of photonic integrated components and circuits including DC and RF test methods for active and passive devices;
  • You are familiar with the photonic and telecommunication industry and have established solid contacts/relationships in that field;
  • You must be rigorous, well organized and structured, have a sense of initiative and a strong desire for innovation and demonstrated leadership in past projects;
  • Team player with the ability to clearly communicate (synthesis) in a proactive and solution-focused manner;
  • Be fluent in French and English (written and oral).

Pay Range:

The annual pay range for this position is $97,000 - $155,000.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
