POSITION SUMMARY

Owens & Minor is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer P3 to join the team responsible for maintaining, managing, and troubleshooting Owens & Minor’s IT platforms, including all solutions within a hybrid on-prem and cloud environment. The Infrastructure Engineer is part of a collective team of engineers which maintain critical, high availability IT platforms that support business applications for our users, customers, and suppliers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Configure and maintain VPN tunnels that support customer data integrations. Scope includes Site-to-Site (S2S) VPN tunnel solutions.
  • Experience with Windows server administration.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as updating VPN tunnels, O/S and COTS software troubleshooting, updating Operating Systems (Windows Server) and COTS applications, updating security settings, etc.
  • Understanding of IT fundamentals to complement software platforms to include Load balancing, DNS, TLS, Virtualization, SFTP, WAF, etc.
  • Participate in active monitoring of the server environment to ensure IT platforms meet standards for speed and reliability. Provide analysis to support troubleshooting activities within assigned IT platforms.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot platform-related incidents within established SLAs; assist with troubleshooting, fault isolation, and recovery of failed platform components or services.
  • Interface with internal IT groups and business units as needed to achieve incident or problem resolution, or to support project activities; interface with vendors as needed to escalate network-related issues and problems.
  • Participate in root cause analysis on incidents, helping to drive identification of preventative actions and delivering on the tasks within those actions.
  • Reviewing and updating documentation such as diagrams and operational runbooks, ensuring they are current, complete, and correct.
  • Prepare, document, and execute platform-related requests and changes within established SLAs.
  • Mentor junior team members to expand their technical skillset.
  • Must be available to be a part of a 24/7/365 rotational on-call schedule.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

Performs additional duties as directed. Effectively accomplishes set goals while primarily working in a remote capacity.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:  

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role supporting systems and networks within a distributed enterprise environment.
  • AZ900/AZ104 certification preferred.
  • Cisco CCNA knowledge preferred.
  • University degree or equivalent experience required.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Solid knowledge of infrastructure environments (compute, network, storage, etc.) and how they work together.
  • Experience troubleshooting network problems related to Site-to-Site VPN connectivity.
  • Experience with automated patch management
  • Understanding of Single Sign-On (SSO) Azure B2B.
  • Experience using Azure Portal, PowerShell, and Azure CLI to manage resources.
  • Experience using monitoring/alerting tools.
  • Working knowledge of standard network troubleshooting practices and tools.
  • Experience assessing IT platform performance, capacity, and consumption preferred.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills.
