Indirect Tax Specialist

We seek an experienced Indirect Tax Specialist, who will strengthen our Accounting Team`s international accounting expertise.

In this role, you will:

• Ensure accurate calculation and timely payment of VAT, GST, sales tax, and other indirect taxes across all jurisdictions where the company may have indirect tax liabilities.
• Prepare and submit tax returns and reports in compliance with local and international regulations across all jurisdictions where the company may have indirect tax liabilities.
• Communicate with tax authorities and external tax service providers regarding filings and clarifications.
• Optimize tax costs for the company and its sellers while complying with regulatory changes.
• Assess the impact of tax law changes on company operations.
• Identify and mitigate tax risks related to transactions, seller-buyer interactions, and international operations.
• Optimize internal tax accounting and reporting processes to reduce risks and improve efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with economic nexus rules governing VAT/GST obligations in cross-border trade.
• Supervise regulatory inspections in relation to indirect tax issues.
• Respond to tax authority inquiries and audits. Defend the company's tax position in disputes.
• Advise Finance, Legal, Product, and Business teams on tax obligations for the company and sellers.
• Coordinate with external legal advisors and audit firms.
• Maintain communication with tax authorities in different countries.
• Implement and configure tax solutions (e.g., Taxually) for automated indirect tax calculations.
• Ensure the accuracy of tax settings in marketplace payment systems.

Skills you'll need to bring:

• 3+ years of experience in indirect tax management (VAT, GST, Sales Tax) across the EU, US, and Cyprus.
• Strong knowledge of EU and US indirect tax regulations, VAT/GST filings, and tax audits.
• Experience with ERP tax modules and tax compliance software (Taxually, Avalara, Vertex, etc.).
• Proficiency in Excel, data reconciliation, and identifying tax risks.
• Understanding of indirect tax implications for e-commerce, SaaS, and digital services.
• Workflow optimization experience - setting up efficient tax processes between payment providers, merchants of record, and tax service providers.
• Stakeholder management, effective collaboration with finance, legal, IT teams, external auditors, and tax authorities.
• Upper-Intermediate+ English.

As a plus:

• US sales tax nexus knowledge - understanding economic nexus rules and marketplace facilitator laws.
• Experience in fast-growing industries - knowledge of tech, fintech, e-commerce, and SaaS tax challenges.
• ACCA, CTA, CPA, or an indirect tax specialization (e.i. ADIT - could be in progress).
