Overview
The Manager of Business Intelligence has key accountability for the management of a highly motivated Business Intelligence team for Individual Markets. In this role, the person will be responsible for leading and coordinating the development and maintenance of scalable business intelligence solutions. These solutions provide important metrics and insights to leaders in the organization. It has a focus on skill development and mentoring of a high-performing team as well as responsibility for helping the team to plan and prioritize across multiple concurrent projects. A successful candidate will be able to connect with both business and technical leaders bridging the gap between with effective translation of concepts and requirements.
You Will:
- Lead work assignments and team capacity to ensure the highest impact projects are appropriately resourced.
- Be responsible for team planning and prioritization.
- You will collaborate with business partners to understand their requirements and corresponding needs which result in providing solutions that can turn large and complex data sets into self-serve metrics and insights.
- Lead the efforts on key projects to find the best fit solutions that help to tell a compelling narrative of the data that aligns to the intended audience.
- Participate as both leader and analyst to ensure business metrics and insights are being identified, appropriately represented and communicated.
- Lead initiatives to support build, optimization, and automation of BI solutions.
- Partner with Lead Data Steward to support data integrity by routinely ensuring that the team is following data governance best practices through testing, documentation (e.g., documenting metadata) and building controls into each project.
You Have:
- People management and analytical project/project leadership experience required
- 7-10 years of experience in data management and analytics environment including experience with business intelligence
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience; additional professional designation a plus
- Experience within an insurance, financial services, and/or healthcare organization preferred
- Strong planning, analytical, decision-making and people/project management skills
- Advanced proficiency at least one analytics platform/tool (e.g., Tableau, Python, PowerBI, QuickSight) with an ability to teach these skills and an interest in expanding knowledge in this space.
- You perform both business and data analysis to develop or improve Business Intelligence solutions
- Experience in leading requirements and analysis sessions across multiple projects and topics
- Excellent listening, communication (verbal and written), influencing, and presentation skills
- Solid understanding of relational database and warehousing concepts, table structure and data modeling
- Solid understanding in data preparation/blending and automation tools such as Alteryx or Tableau Prep
- Knowledge of big data bullet points or sentences here
Location:
- Three days a week at Guardian locations in Pittsfield, MA, Boston, MA, Bethlehem, PA, Holmdel, NJ or New York.
Salary Range:
$84,320.00 - $138,522.50
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
