Job Description

Summary: 

The HR Projects Specialist supports the HR department in administering all Human Resources projects and initiatives.  Responsibilities include working to increase the overall departmental productivity and efficiency through the use of automated reports and processes, deliverable tracking, and measuring productivity, along with other projects to support the HR Business Unit as assigned. Closely partners with all facets of HR, Payroll, and other key business units for deliverables.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports assigned projects for various activities spanning across multiple functional areas and/or geographies, including HR process improvement initiatives, organizational development, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other essential routine and ad hoc Human Resources projects. 
  • Responsible for supporting project plan development, creating and helping team members manage timelines, creating and maintaining project measurements.
  • May lead and or support enterprise training projects through identified HRIS tool or other mechanisms.
  • Supports the implementation and maintenance of new or routine Human Resources projects and programs. 
  • Interfaces directly with various business unit groups including all HR groups, Operations, Legal, Finance, IT, Procurement, etc. 
  • Focuses on results over process, constantly seeks ways to simplify and reduce complexity in a constantly changing environment.
  • Tracks and reports project progress.  Follows up with reminders on deliverables to stakeholders.
  • Escalates risks, issues, and constraints, as appropriate, to ensure timely resolutions. 
  • Maintains Human Resources SLAs on response time and time to resolution. 
  • Conducts program/project/process analysis for continuous improvement recommendations.
  • Works on special ad hoc projects, as assigned

Other HR Related Activities

  • Provides general information and answers to routine questions on HR policies and procedures.  Monitors Human Resources email and Sales Force cases and ensures appropriate and timely response;
  • Assists with the performance appraisal system and merit planning data processes;

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Client Responsibilities

This is an internal and external client facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills (listening/verbal/written).  One must be able to; manage difficult or emotional client situations; Respond promptly to client needs; Solicit client feedback to improve service; Respond to requests for service and assistance from clients; Meet commitments to internal clients and team.

Education and/or Experience                                             

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in Business with an emphasis in Human Resources, along with a minimum of 2-3 years’ related work experience in management or HR related activities. Experience with policy management, compliance, training, or supporting internal Human Resources initiatives preferred.  Strong detail orientation and communication skills required, particularly in project tracking and ensuring follow up with stakeholders.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate to advanced skills in all Microsoft Applications, including MS Office, Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel.   Workday experience is a plus.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Mathematical Skills                                                 

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Work Location

This position must work on-site at the Tempe, AZ location for purposes of providing adequate support to internal clients; being available for face-to-face interactions and coordination of work with other employees, colleagues, clients, or vendors; as well as for facilitation of quick and effective decisions through collaboration with stakeholders.  Remote work is not an option for these purposes.

Working Hours

This is a non-exempt position requiring one to be able to work overtime from time to time in order to get the job done.  Therefore one must have the ability to work nights, weekends or on holidays as required.  This may be changed at any time to meet the needs of the business.  The typical working hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Travel

This position requires no travel; however, attendance may be required at various local conferences and meetings.
