Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts, vendor agreements, licensing agreements, leases, and other legal document to ensure they are compliant with all statutory requirements.

  • Provide legal and risk management advice related to contracts and agreements.

  • Participate in corporate governance.

  • Prepare and file legal documents.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position does not currently have any supervisory responsibilities.

Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

Experience and Education

  • Five (5) to ten (10) years’ experience in corporate real estate law.

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with a license to practice with the state bar.  

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures.

  • Previous experience in corporate retail law is highly preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft® Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Windows 10).

Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations

  • Must be licensed and in good standing with the state bar.
  • This position requires a valid driver's license for business travel.

  • Use hands to finger, handle, and/or feel; the ability to type, pick, pinch with fingers, seize, hold, grasp or turn with hands, and perceive attributes of objects and materials, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture, by touching with fingertips.
  • Occasionally required to walk about.
  • Rarely required to do the following activities:
  • Stand dynamically for long periods without a break.
  • Stand statically for long periods without a break.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include:
  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
  • Adjustable focus.
