How to contribute to our vision

Reporting to the Electrical Balance of Plant Services Manager, your duties as the High Voltage Authority will see you play a pivotal role in leading all aspects of HV operations and assist in the delivery of Electrical Balance of Plant operations and maintenance services. Your role plays a critical contribution to ensure ongoing high availability of SGRE Australian wind farm for our clients. 

What You Need To Make a Difference

  • Management of day-to day HV switching operations and Access Authority systems.
  • Preparation, review, update and release of applicable HV and LV related Procedures and Operating Protocols.
  • Maintaining records of valid HV authorisations of SGRE technicians and subcontractors.
  • Management of training, assessments and authorisations of SGRE technicians and HV operators.
  • Assessment and authorisation of external HV Operators to perform HV switching at SGRE windfarm sites.
  • Undertake periodic internal HV audits and ensure compliance with SGRE’s HV and LV Procedures.
  • Act as the primary contact for various Transmission Network Service Providers, customer representatives and other stakeholders for HV switching and substation outage, planning and coordination.
  • Maintaining HV operating related equipment, including ensuring inspections, tests and calibrations are completed to satisfy statutory requirements.
  • Assisting with the coordination, carrying out and reporting for EBoP scheduled maintenance t in accordance with O&M contract requirements.
  • Provide specialist HV Operations advice to other SGRE groups and stakeholders including, HSE, Tendering, Construction and Service Site Managers.
  • Manage the development and approval of HV switching programs for planned and unplanned outages.
  • Respond to EBoP-related faults and alarms as appropriate and lead preliminary investigations for fault-finding
  • Reporting on HV Operations and related activities.
  • Operate HV, MV and LV plant and equipment.
  • Ensuring EBoP facilities are maintained in a safe, clean and tidy condition.

You must have the ability to travel regularly to SGRE windfarm sites across Australian and to attend customer meetings as required.To succeed in this busy and varied role you must possess:

  • Extensive power industry experience as a HV Authority and in leading HV switching operations.
  • Strong knowledge of HV substation operations and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand EBoP related primary and secondary drawings.
  • Strong understanding of EBoP SCADA and protection systems pertaining to the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity.
  • Extensive experience in the preparation of HV switching programs and permits, developing HV and LV procedures and protocols.
  • Familiarity and practical application of the Electrical Safety Acts and Regulations applicable to the various Australian States for governing HV switching practices and Permit to Work systems.
  • An Australian Driver’s License.
  • Desirably hold a valid Electrical License in at least one Australian state.
