Royal IHC is aiming to appoint a new Manager to lead the Functional Discipline Project Management.
Based on the core strategy of the various PMG’s, the Head of Project Management defines the strategy of this core functional discipline with a keen eye on differentiating factors per PMG, while improving safety, quality and on time in full delivery of the projects. Cornerstone of the strategy is a full integrated process with clearly connected change management milestones in order to realise an improved process from proposal to construction and commissioning.
FD Project Management will centrally be responsible for availability of PM-ers, planners and document controllers and manage assigning them to projects. This all in good cooperations with PMG directors. Once assigned to project PM will operationally report into PMG director. With a strong focus on external trends and market insights the Project Management Director enhances state of the art project management to improve EBIT.
You will:

Lead a performance driven and customer-oriented Project Management Discipline (consisting of Project manager and a team with planners and document controllers) with a strong safety culture and CSR ambition.

Maintain and implement a 3-5 year strategic plan in collaboration with the PMG Directors and Functional Discipline and Capacity Center leaders.

Support the business strategy of the various PMG’s and ensure sufficient capacity to serve the PMG’s.

Have an important role in the start-up phase of projects (during stage gate 1 and 2). You will think along with PMG directors, based on type of project, what the project team will need to look like and which project manager is best fit for a specific project. You facilitate a good start of the project by providing support to assigned project manager to connect to and align internal stakeholders and de-risk the project.

Participate in project boards and have strong focus on project results and prevent/ de-escalate potential issues during project

Enhance end to end project management activities, from proposal to warranty after successful delivery, including negotiations and contracting processes and ensuring contract and delivery compliance in close collaboration with the PMG’s and Functional Disciplines.

Develop the project management competence in the Functional Discipline and actively support internal mobility across the PMG’s.

Demonstrate an adaptive leadership style, meaning that you are able to lead the organisation together with the PMG’s through ups and downs in the market.

Cooperate with the other functional and corporate disciplines in either their role as Capacity Centre or Centre of Expertise, defining the standards (means and methods). Develop, set, drive and monitor global quality standards, methodologies, tooling etc.

A strong background in project management combined with managerial experience within the maritime industry.

Leadership from a perspective of safety and well-being first and foremost and you have proven track record of growth mindset and steering teams to improve safety and quality standards.

A completed master degree.

In-depth insights in the customer needs, the PMG needs and your functional capabilities.

Self-awareness: you instinctively know how to coach people through change, you are approachable and hands-on.
