About your team
The Japan marketing team is responsible for the following functions:
Managing the Fidelity brand in accordance with global and regional guidelines, ensuring the Japan market is leveraging and building on Fidelity’s brand strength in the marketplace. Developing and implementing the integrated marketing strategy and activities for all business (Wholesale, Institutional and New Capabilities), working in close partnership with the local business / sales teams and regional marketing teams to develop and implement key initiatives that include above and below the line, through-the-line, offline, event management, digital/mobile/social focused marketing activities; and Partner with Japan Business, Distribution & close collaboration with Global Head / Regional Product Marketing team to develop effective and powerful marketing content strategy, aligned with business & product/solution proposition, to deliver world-class marketing communication plan in both traditional and digital channels/platforms for Japan business; and Elevating outputs & deliverables via managing marketing efficiency and leveraging innovation tools & platforms such as, including but not limited to CRM, Marketo, Line, using data for insights to drive desired results; and Managing the marketing budget to reflect aligned marketing & business goals with clear tracking, measurement, and ROI.
About your role
You will be an integral part of Japan business team; and a part of a truly global team who are passionate about world class marketing capability covering brand, social media marketing, Martech, thought leadership, digital excellence and using data for insights to facilitate the design & delivery of the initiatives. You will be primarily responsible for leading marketing functions consists of, channel marketing, content marketing and digital marketing working closely with internal stakeholders and clients to ensure Fidelity’s products and services are effectively marketed through the Wholesale, Institutional and New Capabilities (if any) sales channels thus increasing the company’s sales, AUM and profitability. Fidelity aims to be the premier provider of asset management products and solutions in Japan and is committed to devoting the resources to make that transpire. You will also be part of the FIL APAC marketing leadership group and the Japan Operating Committee leadership team, as well as will participate in both with the possibility of leading projects regionally & globally as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
1. Marketing
- Provide strategic marketing leadership that will help Fidelity Japan achieve its business and sales goals and build a strong brand presence.
- Develop and maintain a marketing strategy and oversee the development and implementation of tactical marketing programs, including but not limited to - advertising, campaign development, distributor sponsorships/activities, events, digital & social channels amplification & content development both B2B & B2B4C; that deliver against that strategy.
- Be the lead in driving Marketing Tech in utilising CRM shared capability and best practice to enable omni-channel marketing strategy to its desired effect.
- Be the guardian of the Fidelity brand across all internal or external brand applications.
- Manage vendor relationships including vendor selection, development, briefing and management.
- Conduct budget planning and exercise budget control responsibility.
- Forward looking and thinking: identify short- and long-term marketing trends that Fidelity should leverage on.
2. Team management
- Build a strong team of marketing professionals able to create and implement effective tactics across all marketing disciplines including, advertising, digital marketing, digital product management, CRM, content marketing, research, client/investor/market insights study & understanding, and events.
- Lead, coach, inspire and motivate the marketing team.
- Inculcate a teamwork-oriented yet performance-driven culture.
3. Stakeholder relationship building and management
- Build credible and comprehensive internal networks within the Fidelity organisation (locally and overseas), maintain these relationships, and work effectively with these internal stakeholders to drive the implementation of marketing strategies and plans.
- Be an active member of the Fidelity marketing structure in Asia.
- Work closely and collaborate with the Japan Sales, Investment, Product Specialist, PR/Corporate Comm. and Product teams to ensure maximum effectiveness of marketing programs for all products and services.
- Collaborate with other colleagues inside the organization whose buy-in and support is required to deliver the marketing efforts (regional marketing teams, investment, product development, legal and compliance, etc)
4. Governance and risk management
- Build a risk-aware culture amongst the team.
- Demonstrate strong control environment and compliance with local and global regulations together with internal oversight rules and regulations.
- Work effectively with Legal and Compliance to ensure that marketing related materials and programs meet all regulatory requirements.

You’ll succeed because you have:
- Minimum 15+ years marketing experience with a proven track record in the following marketing disciplines: integrated marketing strategy, brand management, product & content marketing and digital marketing.
- Experience of working in the financial services industry preferred. Experience in a similar role & scope is a distinct advantage.
- Deep understanding of the asset management and asset management distribution industry, as well as good knowledge of investments and financial markets.
- Proven track record in an international corporate environment.
- A proactive communicator with proven ability to articulate and share the marketing vision, actively participate in and influence marketing discussions and build comprehensive internal networks within a global organisation.
- Japanese local and superior English language skills, both written and spoken, are essential.
- Senior level presence, with the capability to build credibility and gain trust and respect. Strong strategic thinking, analytical, communications and problem-solving skills. Ability to thoughtfully challenge decisions or recommendations as appropriate. Ability to interface with all levels/disciplines. Effective and proactive communicator with proven ability to actively participate in and influence discussions. Capable of capturing the attention and respect of senior client executives, Fidelity management, colleagues and team members.
- Proven people management skill - experience in leading a high performing team with track record of achieving marketing & business objective in winning market share.
- Able to build comprehensive internal networks within the organisation and work effectively with internal stakeholders to drive the commercialization of business opportunities.
