Head of Financial Risk Management

Key Accountabilities 

• Oversight of financial risks including:
  • Product development
  • Reinsurance and any other risk transfer/ hedging arrangements
  • Market, credit, and counterparty credit risk
  • Insurance risks including mortality, morbidity and persistency
  • Strategic asset allocation, investment strategy, and M&A
  • Strategic and business planning
  • Capital management and any other material business decisions.
• Oversee the implementation and compliance with the local and Group Risk Management Framework, Risk Policies, standards, and the local risk appetite framework(s). Providing training as required to the 1st Line.
• Review and challenge the 1st line identification of financial risks and controls and the assessment of those controls. 
• Support and challenge the 1st Line in their root cause analysis and control enhancements for any incidents/breaches relating to FRM.
• Oversee the assessment of key Solvency ratios and sensitivities / risk drivers.
• Oversee the assessment of the sensitivities / financial risk drivers to the strategic business plan.
• Monitor and report on the key risk indicators of Financial Risk, investigating any unusual trends.
• Participate in various first line committees/working groups such as Product Implementation, underwriting and claims, persistency and other decision-making committees/projects.
• Update the risk committee on the key financial risks and financial risk appetite on a quarterly basis.

Minimum requirements: (Qualifications and Experience)

• A degree in Finance, Economics, Financial Engineering, Actuarial, Mathematics or other related fields.
• Qualified actuary is preferable
• Minimum of 7 years experiences in life insurance involving product development / pricing, experience studies, reinsurance, or financial reporting.
• Experience and knowledge in Economic Capital, EEV, IFRS and risk management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Requires excellent communication, and influencing skills, being able to articulate complex technical issues in clear and concise manner.
• Able to effectively work independently as well as in a team.
• Strong command in both written and spoken English.
