The Opportunity: Head of Engineering
As Head of Engineering, you will lead WEVO’s technical strategy, execution, and team growth as we scale. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will own the architecture, development lifecycle, and infrastructure that power our platform. You will play a pivotal role in shaping how we apply generative AI and agentic AI to solve real-world customer challenges.
This is a rare chance to build a category-defining product while leading a high-caliber engineering team in one of the most exciting areas of AI.
What You’ll Do
- Set and execute the technical vision. Define, develop, and implement a roadmap that advances WEVO’s business objectives.
- Scale AI innovation. Partner with the data science team and engage with customers to deploy cutting-edge Generative AI and Agentic AI applications.
- Own the development lifecycle. Oversee product architecture, software development, security, compliance, and cloud infrastructure.
- Recruit and lead a world-class engineering team. Attract, hire, and mentor top-tier talent, fostering a culture of innovation and execution.
- Ensure scalability, security, and reliability. Build robust, secure, and compliant systems that support enterprise clients.
- Drive OKRs and Agile best practices. Contribute to strategic planning and technical decision-making at the leadership level.
- Lead by example with hands-on coding. In the early stages, we expect you to dedicate 20-30% of your time to hands-on development—helping to architect, build, and refine our platform. As the team scales, your focus will shift toward leadership, strategy, and execution at a higher level.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience leading high-performing engineering teams.
- Prior startup experience. You thrive in fast-paced, high-ambiguity environments and make smart decisions with limited data.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs. You have a track record of integrating large language models into products.
- Strong technical expertise. Proficiency in Python (Flask/Django), JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js), and SQL databases.
- Cloud-native mindset. Experience with AWS (IAM, EC2, RDS, S3, SQS) and scalable cloud architectures.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire teams. You know how to attract top talent and create a culture of high performance.
- Boston-based. This role requires in-office collaboration two days per week.
