We are looking for a Head of Corporate Communications to lead the development and execution of corporate communications initiatives for the Challenger Group, with a strong focus on financial market communications, including financial results, market releases and executive speeches. 

This role collaborates closely with senior management and key stakeholders across the organisation, requiring deep expertise in financial communications, and the ability to build trusted relationships at the executive level. 

The Corporate Affairs and Sustainability team is responsible for internal and external communications as well as Group Sustainability, reporting to the Chief of Staff and sits within the CEO’s office.  

The key responsibilities of the role are outlined below but are not limited to: 

Financial Communications 

  • Lead and develop clear, compelling financial communications, including market releases. 

  • Develop CEO, Chair, and executive speeches for key financial events such as financial results, Investor Days and AGMs. 

  • Develop a cohesive narrative for the Group, ensuring consistency across all communications. 

Investor and Market Engagement 

  • Contribute to results presentations and annual report content in collaboration with Investor Relations. 

  • Lead media engagement for Challenger’s financial results and market communications. 

  • Prepare the CEO and group executives for media engagements related to financial results, Investor Days, and AGMs. 

 

Internal Communications 

  • Lead internal financial communications, including CEO messaging and all-employee events, in collaboration with the Communications Manager. 

 

Team and Strategic Support 

  • Mentor team members in areas of expertise and contribute to the wider team’s work. 

  • Support other projects as needed, such as sustainability communications and community partnership management.

Issues Management & Advisory 

  • Provide effective issues management and timely advice to senior management on financial communication-related matters. 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • 10 years+ in experience in a corporate affairs or strategic communications role, including direct responsibility for media engagement. 

  • Understanding of communications requirements of listed companies.  

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external. 

  • Extensive knowledge of media landscape and best practice media engagement.  

  • Confidence and the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership.
