THE ROLE


We’re looking for an innovative and culturally tapped-in Head of Content to lead our content strategy and execution. This role is for a creative leader who thrives in the fast-moving world of digital and social content, with a strong background in video-first storytelling and a deep understanding of how audiences engage across platforms. You will be responsible for leading a dynamic team to develop an organic content strategy that fuels audience growth, engagement, and brand love, while also identifying commercial opportunities to build partner-driven content in a way that feels authentic to Sofar’s brand. 

What you'll do

  • Develop and execute a compelling organic content strategy with a primary focus on social video (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok) while incorporating editorial storytelling.
  • Lead a high-performing content team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Stay culturally connected across music, entertainment, and broader creative industries to ensure Sofar remains at the forefront of conversation.
  • Be hands-on and lead by example—whether it's ideating new formats, directing a shoot, or optimizing content for engagement.
  • Experiment with new content formats, trends, and storytelling approaches** to continuously evolve Sofar’s presence and audience impact.
  • Oversee production of content that brings the Sofar Sounds experience to life, including artist performances, behind-the-scenes stories, and community-driven narratives.
  • Develop a commercially-minded content strategy, creating brand-aligned partnership opportunities that drive revenue while maintaining authenticity.
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, partnerships, and city teams to ensure content supports broader business objectives.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient content operation, managing workflows, budgets, and timelines effectively.

  • A strategic thinker with an experimental mindset, constantly testing and iterating to drive results.
  • A commercially savvy creator, able to craft compelling branded content opportunities without compromising Sofar’s identity.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. 

Preferred experience

  • 7+ years of experience in content strategy, video production, or social media, ideally within the music, entertainment, or media industry.
  • Proven track record of growing audiences and engagement across social platforms.
  • Experience developing and executing branded content partnerships.
  • Strong understanding of video production, editing, and storytelling best practices.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools to measure content performance and optimize strategy.
