We’re looking for an experienced and innovative Head of Communications to develop and execute our communications strategy and grow and lead our communications team. The ideal candidate brings the perspective that comes from having seen it all, but they’re also curious about new formats and innovative communications tactics, always looking for new and different ways to tell impactful stories.


In this role, you will differentiate and protect the Color brand, uphold and further our reputation, and evolve our narrative across channels, campaigns and platforms. You are responsible for all of our media relations, executive communications, corporate communications and you ensure our efforts and impact are fully integrated and our messages get as much reach as possible. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the healthcare industry and startup-to-series E technology company journey, ideally experience within the digital health-tech space, and be able to manage the challenges of evolving a narrative and platforms to keep pace with different phases of a company. You’re an excellent team builder and coach, and are energized by working in a dynamic environment with a sense of urgency for building the software and technical infrastructure that creates more equitable access to healthcare.

How You'll Contribute:

  • You will work with teams across the company to build and lead strategic communications plans that support long-term brand building and business objectives. 
  • Drive Color’s corporate narrative and influence, shaping Color’s point-of-view on healthcare.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key editors and influencers in top tier media, especially in healthcare trades and publications, including effective management of the relationship with Color’s PR agency.
  • Work with internal senior leaders to develop their platforms and messaging via media training, writing op-eds, interview opportunities and speaking engagements.
  • You’ll be a key driver of how we amplify and advance our reputation with key external stakeholders including customers, partners, and industry peers. 
  • Be a critical member of our Marketing Leadership team, and provide strategic communications counsel to both our C-staff and senior leadership at all levels
  • Lead internal communications for the organization to help build team culture and inform and engage our employees -- in partnership with the leadership team and People team.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Stellar written and verbal communication skills.
  • 15+ years of experience in corporate communications, preferably in a high-growth healthcare or health technology environment.
  • Extensive experience collaborating with C-level leaders and other senior executives on challenging corporate issues, and a proven track record of resolving them successfully.
  • Strong relationships with key business, technology and healthcare editors and influencers.
  • An innovative approach to corporate communications, exploring the breadth of today’s media environment and partnerships within and external to the company.
  • Experience with crisis communications and change management, and ability to maintain calm under fire
  • A mindset where communications directly contributes to business objectives
  • Ability to operate at a high level of intensity, acting with a sense of urgency without sacrificing excellence

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in policy, government relations, or public affairs or a related field is a plus

Base Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000.00


The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: work experience, market data, skills, geographic location, and business need. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
