Role Description

The Group Accounts Receivable Controller is being hired to lead a global team of AR analysts at Genius Sports. This team plays a critical role in managing invoicing, credit control, and cash collection worldwide. Key responsibilities include overseeing query management, monitoring bad debt provisions, and maintaining strong SOX controls. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with commercial sales teams, approve invoices and customers, and drive continuous improvement across processes, ensuring the team's effectiveness and success.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the Accounts Receivable team of 4 people to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Develop and implement efficient processes and workflows across transactional functions, driving improvements in speed, accuracy and reliability.
  • Establish KPIs for the transactional processing team and credit control team, monitoring performance and delivering constructive feedback to drive performance improvements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers and internal commercial stakeholders, ensuring timely and effective resolution of any discrepancies.
  • Ensure all customer invoicing is processed accurately and on schedule, minimising delays and errors that could impact cash flow.
  • Monitoring AR invoice and resolution of queries in a timely manner.
  • Build a strong focus on credit control to drive improvements in aging, bad debt and write offs.
  • Ensure all transactional processing is aligned with the company’s financial controls and governance standards.
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes across invoicing, cash allocation and bad debt reporting to meet reporting deadlines
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of transactional processing professionals, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation, working with IT and finance to implement new solutions.
  • Monthly review of the groups debt position and post the bad debt provision journal.
  • Invoice and customer approval in the company finance system. Including maintenance of customer mapping between the CRM and finance system.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience in leading AR teams in global, multi service line organizations (team of 4, 2 in the UK, 2 in Columbia)
  • Deep credit control experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience in dealing with commercial teams
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems, workday finance and salesforce helpful
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a high level of attention to detail
  • Proven experience managing teams and developing team members in a high-paced environment
  • Advanced knowledge of best practices in transactional billing and credit control
  • Effective communicator, with a collaborative approach to cross-departmental projects
  • An ethos of continuous improvement of systems, processes and ways of working
  • Experience in a US listed environment is useful with a working knowledge of SOX controls

This role is also eligible for hybrid working (1-2 days in the office).
