Position Overview
Sublime Systems seeks an experienced Grant Accountant to support the post award accounting, financial compliance, and billing for its grants. Additionally, the Grant Accountant will collaborate cross-functionally to support the performance of project objectives. The ideal candidate will have grant accounting experience, strong organizational skills and effective communication abilities. This full-time position, based in Somerville, MA, offers occasional remote work flexibility and reports to the Controller.
Responsibilities Include:
- Reconcile monthly grant activity, verify appropriateness of cost reimbursement per program requirements, and record adjustments as necessary.
- Prepare invoice packages including reconciliation of reimbursed costs to award budget and supporting invoice/payroll documentation for timely processing.
- Contribute to process improvements and assist in creating and documenting standard operating procedures as needed.
- Follow up expeditiously with all relevant government agencies on questioned expenditures.
- Assist in gathering documentation and providing support during annual program audits.
- Utilize accounting software, including QuickBooks Online, ProcureDesk, Ramp and Bill.com, for efficient financial management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business activities in support of program objectives.
- Support other processes performed by the accounting organization
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required
- 3+ years of experience in public accounting or private industry accounting roles
- Government grant experience is required
- High-level of comfort with accounting software and financial systems
- Familiarity with accounting regulations and procedures under US GAAP and FAR Part 31
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated experience in QuickBooks Online, Procure Desk, BILL, Ramp, or similar software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Active CPA certification is a plus
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
