Description of role:
TWI are seeking to appoint a Graduate Engineer for the NDT Inspection Services (NIS) Section based in the Middlesbrough, Port Talbot or Cambridge office. The NIS section delivers a broad range of projects to an international customer base, often with demanding requirements, including NDT technique development, qualification and on-site delivery.
We currently have a Graduate Engineer opportunity within NIS and are looking for an individual to grow our business and supplement our technical capabilities. As a Graduate Engineer within our team, you will propose, manage and deliver projects for our TWI Members, as well as supporting day-to-day customer enquiries. Success in your application will require experience in engineering, maths or science and/or NDT skills and experience, coupled with practical problem solving skills.
Knowledge and experience in the following areas is essential:
- A minimum qualification of Bachelor’s degree (upper second class honours) or higher in a relevant science or engineering field. (A PhD in NDT would be advantageous).
- Effective communication through various media (written, verbal & IT) to support business development, customer enquiries and project delivery in a direct customer facing role.
Knowledge and experience in the following areas is desirable but not essential:
- Experience in the development of NDT techniques or the practical application of NDT in industry.
- Capability to produce NDT documentation such as technique sheets, inspection procedures and method statements.
- Qualifications in NDE technologies i.a.w. BS EN ISO 9712 or demonstrable equivalence.
Key Accountabilities:
- An ability to understand and assess technical problems to enable you to generate solutions through theoretical modelling and practical trials.
- The ability to identify and develop leads during technical client conversations including scoping, costing and negotiations to win business.
- Excellent Project Management skills, in particular experience of project planning, cost management, quality plans and change control to ensure delivery of projects to time, cost and quality targets.
- Close collaboration with engineering and technical support colleagues to deliver
multi-disciplinary projects. - To aid development of industrial membership for TWI and support business development and marketing requirements within the team.

Travel:
This position will require working from your designated base office (Middlesbrough, Port Talbot or Cambridge) with remote working offered for a proportion of the week. This position will require travel both in the UK and abroad as required to meet project and client needs and in order to gain site experience of NDT techniques which will support personal development.
Security clearance:
You will be required to undertake and gain UK security clearance for this role.
