GovCon Accounting Specialist (Hybrid)

Job Title: Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable (AR/AP) Specialist
Location: Springfield, VA - Hybrid
Years of Experience: Mid-Level (3-5 Years)

JFL Consulting is currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated GovCon Accounting Specialist to join our team. The AR/AP Specialist will play a critical role in managing the organization's financial transactions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of accounts receivable and payable processes. This role requires hands-on experience with Unanet software and a strong understanding of financial workflows.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with Unanet software for financial processes
• Proficiency in accounts receivable and accounts payable operations
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Duties to Include but not Limited to:

• Process and manage accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions
• Reconcile invoices, payments, and account discrepancies
• Ensure timely and accurate billing and collection processes
• Prepare and review financial reports related to AR/AP activities
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in Unanet
• Respond to vendor and client inquiries regarding billing and payments
• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve financial discrepancies
• Perform contract reporting, closeout, and compliance review
• Generate and analyze monthly financial reports for leadership review

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical, Business, or Management fields
• 3-5 years of experience in AR/AP or related financial roles
• Experience in a government contracting or professional services environment is a plus
• Knowledge of GAAP principles and practices
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Certifications:

• Accounting or finance-related certifications (e.g., Certified Accounts Payable Professional - CAPP, Certified Bookkeeper - CB)
