This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Global Technical Center or the Mountain View Technical Center three times per week, at minimum.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a Utility Market Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the Utility team to proactively engage with key utilities and energy market stakeholders to facilitate knowledge and understanding of GM Energy, and GM Energy's Home Energy V2X and energy storage products and related services. You will play an essential role in facilitating the inclusion of our products on utility, regulatory, and other approved or qualified product lists to ensure customer accessibility to EV charging rebates, incentives and other applicable financial instruments that enable sales. You will work directly with the Utility Business Development and Sales teams to identify and pursue sales of GM Energy hardware products to utilities and other energy market partners in the U.S. You will work cross-functionally with various internal stakeholder groups, including Product, Sales, Delivery, PMO and other teams to establish and drive processes to cost-effectively enable sales towards organizational KSI and KPIs.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and proactively engage with key utilities and energy market stakeholders to build relationships, facilitate knowledge sharing of GM Energy Home Energy Products and services, and support hardware sales.
- Collaborate with internal sales team and utilities, regulators, and other energy market stakeholders to ensure the inclusion of GM Energy products on utility, regulatory, organization and other approved and/or qualified product lists that enable products sales
- Establish new meaningful sales of GM Energy products to utilities and work to promote our innovative new EV charging and energy storage products through these collaborations.
- Influence and stay ahead of utility and energy market programs requirements to ensure GM Energy's V2X hardware products meet necessary rebate, incentive and eligibility criteria.
- Inform and maintain up-to-date internal and customer-facing tools with available utility incentives, rebates, and other information to support GM Energy product sales
- Research and analyze energy market trends, including, to anticipate further opportunities to unlock additional sales of GM Energy's V2X, energy storage, and EV charging products and services to customers.
- Support Utility Business Development team with energy market, regulatory analysis and competitive benchmarking towards strategies that enable broader customer access to GM Energy's V2X products and services.
- Establish processes to track, manage and proactively communicate team progress towards Utility-related KSIs and KPIs.
- Work with Utility team and external organizations to organize and socialize recommendations of V2X and energy storage programs to support improvement of GM Energy's products, services and offerings to customers.
- Create education for GM Energy teams including direct sales, dealer sales, go-to-market and marketing on utility programs and incentives for customers, in collaboration with legal.
Additional Description
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevent field.
- 3-5 years of professional experience in the following areas: Electric vehicle charging, environmental analysis, energy management, business, engineering, public policy or related fields.
- Proven experience in external outreach and engagement, preferably in the renewable energy or energy products industry.
- Strong knowledge of energy markets, utilities residential and commercial incentive programs and regulatory requirements surrounding adoption of GM Energy's unidirectional and bidirectional chargers, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) systems, and residential energy storage systems (ESS)
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, include Executives.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Research and analytical mindset with the ability to quickly assess market trends and quantify opportunities that enable product sales.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
- Knowledge of electric vehicle charging technology, distributed energy resources, energy efficiency and/or renewable energy technologies is preferred.
- Familiarity with utility processes and regulatory compliance is also strongly preferred
- Proficiency with Distributed Energy Resources and associated energy market programs regulatory compliance is highly desirable.

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.
- The salary range for this role is ($110,200 - $176,100 ). The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
- Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
