The Global Social Media Lead is a key member of the Global Social team, supporting the Head of Social Engagement in leading and delivering the overall social media content strategy for the Xero brand, in support of Accountants and Bookkeepers (ABs) and small businesses (SBs) around the world - with focus on Xero’s 3x priority regions: UK, AU, US.
Working collaboratively, you'll use your creative and technical experience to develop and execute strategies for AB/SB audiences across Xero’s social channels - with a primary focus on Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn. You will lead the development and execution of social content programs to drive awareness and engagement among Xero’s customers, prospects and audiences. You'll be recognized as a go to leader for social media content strategy and provide over expertise key business initiatives.
While this role is global in nature, you will collaborate with regional teams on local social activations for key campaigns, factoring in local and regional priorities and nuances . You'll stay on top of the ever evolving audience needs and social landscape and bring an experimental approach to achieve results. You are goal oriented and ensure reporting is in place to measure impact
What you’ll do:
- Be the global leader for AB, SB and Xero-brand focused social media initiatives
- Develop the strategy and set the standards for Xero’s social media strategy, focused on ABs and SBs
- Take a collaborative approach and be a catalyst for a positive team culture
- Collaborate across the business to bring key AB/SB and brand initiatives to life on social media in a manner that is measurable and outcome driven
- Define the strategy for social channels that AB/SBs participate in the most
- Report on social analytics and lessons learned, with support from the Senior Manager, Global Social Operations
- Strategic planning over Xero’s overall social media editorial calendar to enable a cohesive global narrative, with support from the Senior Manager, Global Social Operations
- Oversee the AB/SB social content calendar (inclusive of regional priorities) and ensure awareness among key stakeholders
- Represent the global social team and foster a positive team environment
- Stakeholder Management:
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including marketing, product marketing, communications and customer support.
- Work with and influence stakeholders across global and regional teams, encouraging alignment and collaboration, and leading change management across the Social team
- Leadership (in partnership with Senior Manager, Global Social Media Operations counterpart) for bi-weekly Slack updates to global Marketing team around tasks/campaigns in-flight, and summary of performance
What you'll bring with you:
- Experience:
- At least 8+ years of experience in social media management
- Demonstrated success working collaboratively to develop social media strategies and producing compelling content that achieves results
- Strong understanding of the social media landscape at a global level
- Leveraging data and insights to inform decisions
- Working and leading cross functionally in a matrixed organisation
- Critical competencies:
- Expert in social media
- Ability to make the complex understandable and the mundane interesting
- Create great content at pace whilst adhering to style guides, templates and compliance tools
- Highly organised and strong ability to prioritise
- Outstanding ability to plan and deliver on time and on budget
- Data driven decision making
- An ability to connect high level strategies

While this role is global in nature, you will collaborate with regional teams (with a focus on North/Southern Hemisphere relevant to your role) to ensure that regional nuances are included in execution plans, and act as the ‘escalation’ point of contact for all things crisis and issues for the Social team.
You’ll stay on top of the ever evolving audience needs and social landscape and bring an experimental approach to achieve results. You are goal oriented and ensure reporting is in place to measure impact.
