Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Mountain View (CA) three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
As part of GM's Human Resources Group, this Compensation Analyst will be a driver of the development, implementation, communication for our global and regional compensation programs. You will consistently provide ongoing evaluation of our programs to identify areas of improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Provide detailed financial modeling at scale of compensation-related exercises: program spend, targeted interventions, tracking spend across programs, countries and functions, and the ability to distill and summarize findings about those data at scale
- Building financial models from scratch - identifying key data sources, creating logic and data flows, and auditing/reviewing data to ensure accuracy, and summarizing information in a way that is appropriate for an executive audience
- Benchmark salary, cash, and pay ranges for GM's global workforce, ensuring competitiveness in the various operating markets
- Support budget and allocation for GM's annual merit increase and variable pay programs globally
- Partner with field HR, Talent Acquisition, and other Compensation design and programs teams on a variety of compensation-related projects
- Develop external candidate rewards offers following GM's process
- Oversee GM's benchmarking and participation in market-based surveys
- Consult on the design of pay practices to ensure General Motors is attracting and retaining the right talent to achieve company objectives
- Craft, implement, communicate, and administer our compensation strategy while providing ongoing assessment of our compensation programs
- Ability to use data to develop conclusions and recommendations to support compensation issues
- Partner and advise members of Global Compensation & Benefits, particularly Global Compensation Consultants to provide guidance on compensation analysis and results
Additional Description
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in HR, mathematics or related degree
- 3 - 5 years of related compensation experience
- Familiarity with compensation surveys
- Experience working with compensation packages, including long-term incentive plans
- Must be comfortable with data and able to analyze, interpret, draw conclusions and develop recommendations
- Proven ability to work independently and within a team, take initiative, and work to plan
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel
Qualifications Preferred
- Experience with Workday
- Experience with PayScale or PayFactors
- Work experience with start-ups or tech companies
Compensation
- The expected base compensation for this role is $98,000 - $158,000 USD Annually.
- Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
- Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.

- This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
