Position Overview:
We are seeking a GIS Specialist to join our Project Development team and provide expert geospatial support throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with project developers, contributing to site origination, land right tracking, environmental constraints analysis, competitor mapping, and high-quality cartographic outputs.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Convert, analyze, and process spatial data using QGIS and Global Mapper.
✔ Maintain land right trackers, ensuring accurate metadata and cadastral classifications.
✔ Support environmental and infrastructure constraints tracking for projects.
✔ Conduct competitor project mapping and analysis.
✔ Process cadastral data for deeds searches and land parcel mapping.
✔ Create high-quality maps for project documents and presentations.
✔ Define initial buildable areas for wind, solar, and battery storage projects.
✔ Maintain the GIS library and support layout design iterations.
Qualifications & Experience:Required:
✔ Bachelor’s Degree/National Diploma in Geospatial Science, GIS, Remote Sensing, Geography, Environmental Sciences, Geological Science, Town Planning, or related field.
✔ 3–5 years of GIS experience.
✔ Proficiency in QGIS, Global Mapper, and PlanetGIS.
✔ Strong skills in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint.
✔ Valid driver’s license.
Advantageous:
✔ Postgraduate Degree/Diploma in GIS or related field.
✔ 5+ years of experience in the renewable energy sector.
✔ Knowledge of South African environmental legislation & protocols.
✔ Project management skills and professional registration.
