Are you passionate about building and optimizing platforms that power content and data strategies? As a Full Stack Developer – PHP & WordPress at Entain, you’ll play a critical role in managing our custom content CMS and sports data platform. By collaborating with stakeholders across departments, you'll ensure that our systems are feature-rich, high-performing, and aligned with our brand and content goals. Main:

• Collaborate with senior management across Performance Marketing, Brand, and Content to deliver feature updates and maintenance for our custom CMS and sports data systems.
• Maintain & optimize large dataset and codes that absorb data from 3rd party feeds.
• Enhance and optimize in-house APIs or create new based on internal requirements.
• Create, maintain, and optimize required widgets for internal and external use.
• Work with IT teams on server administration to ensure reliability and scalability.
• Perform performance optimization across systems to ensure smooth user experiences.
• Conduct bug testing, reporting, and resolution.
• Provide regular updates on project progress and challenges.

Occasional:

• Support IT with server configurations and new environment setups.
• Assist with documentation for third-party API integrations

Essential:

• Proven experience developing WordPress plugins and themes, with a strong focus on back-end development.
• Solid understanding of WordPress hooks, filters, and the request pipeline.
• Experience integrating and customizing third-party plugins.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and jQuery.
• Strong knowledge of PHP MVC frameworks (e.g., Symfony is a plus).
• Hands-on experience with Linux/Ubuntu command-line and backend systems.
• Proficiency in MySQL management, including query optimization and indexing.
• Expertise with caching strategies, NGINX configuration, Redis management, and shell scripting.
• Experience with Docker and containerized environments.
• Familiarity with REST API design, development, and documentation.

Qualifications

Desired:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience in debugging complex systems and resolving performance issues.
• Understanding of computational complexity, scalability, and security best practices.

• Collaborates effectively with stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams.
• Demonstrates a proactive approach to problem-solving and optimization.
• Reflects on challenges to continuously improve processes and outcomes.

What you'll need to be successful:

• A minimum of 5+ years of related work experience as a backend software developer.
• Strong expertise in WordPress development, including hooks, filters, and actions.
• Ability to debug issues efficiently and provide quick, scalable solutions.
