Summary
Northeastern University's award-winning communications operation is looking for a Front End & UX/UI Developer to join a team of creative storytellers, including designers, developers, news reporters, multimedia, social media, and media relation specialists. If you love storytelling, design, UI/UX, typography, and being part of a team of creative writers, designers, developers, social media and multimedia producers, you'll love being part of our team. We're looking for a forward-thinking Front End & UX/UI Developer to join our development team supporting our web-based projects. This individual must have a strong track record of using PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build robust websites, as well as demonstrated skills in designing and implementing site components and page layouts. Familiarity in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or Adobe Illustrator is a must. Experience utilizing Gutenberg blocks to build WordPress sites is a plus.
You'll be joining a curious, innovative and hard-working team of journalists, editors, media relations professionals, and social media producers who love creativity and collaboration. We value those who solve problems, bring ideas and are not afraid to experiment. We also value those who take responsibility for managing their own time and projects without missing deadlines.
The position is based on the Boston campus with the option of one remote day per week.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree
-
3-5 years of experience in web design and development

In-depth knowledge of front-end technologies including PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS

Skilled in designing attractive and accessible components in tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch

Understanding of what makes a good user experience

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Experience in effectively leveraging content management systems

Comfortable with code-versioning tools such as Git, Mercurial, or SVN

Solid understanding of website architecture and aesthetics

Experience in higher education is not needed, nor it is desired
