Job Accountabilities:
Delivery Maintain plant equipment and install all process machinery.
- Do daily preventative maintenance, by inspecting plant equipment for faults and report on or repair faulty conditions.
- Complete maintenance schedules and inspections daily to the required standard.
- Do root cause analysis on breakdowns, repair faults and take preventative action.
- Remove and install equipment during and in preparation of planned maintenance.
- Overhaul equipment by stripping, examining, replacing and repairing faulty parts, then reassemble and replace overhauled machines.
- Commission new installations or alterations.
- Maintain and service workshop equipment daily to ensure maximum availability.
- Assist with Engineering Projects as assigned.
- Working on lathe (Machining shafts and reading engineering drawings)
- Working on milling machine and all workshop machinery.
Safety: Work to McCain Safety and Food Safety requirements
- Ensure that equipment is in a safe and operational condition according to McCain Safety and Food Safety requirements, - AIB and HACCP as well as Key Elements of Safety.
- Work according to and practice 5S Principles.
- Work according to OHACT and other applicable Acts.
Cost: Draw and record spares and breakdown details through SAP .
- Identify update and review critical spares requirements and report to Mechanical Superintendent.
Cost: Implement cost reduction / efficiency measures on all resources - water, electricity, steam and air.
- Participate in MDI Process.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, make proposals and implement approved improvements.
Job Holder Requirements
- School: Gr 12 or N4
- Certificates: Valid Trade Test Certificate (Fitter and Turner)
- Previous experience as Fitter in an FMCG environment for at least 2 years. Knowledge and experience in the overhauling of pumps, packaging equipment, conveying equipment, pneumatics, shakers, augers and hydraulics. General fitting experience. Experience in the Food Industry would be advantageous.
