Prepares quarterly and annual external financial statements, prepares technical accounting research and documentation, interacts with external auditors and supports filings and ensuring compliance with various corporate financial policies and procedures. Ensures accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, external quarterly and annual financial statements, including related quarterly reviews and annual audits.
Responsibilities
- Prepares schedules for SEC filings including Form 10-Qs, 10-Ks and other various reports.
- Prepares supplemental reconciliation and schedules for internal reporting package.
- Analysis of supporting documentation received from Accounting and other departments to determine accuracy and completeness
- Assists with special projects as necessary.
- Provides system maintenance within financial reporting including extraction and analysis of data from multiple ledgers.
- Upload journal entries on monthly basis.
- Ascertains that transactions are properly supported and classified in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Recognizes and researches unusual variances or apparent inconsistencies within the financial statements.
- Provides system maintenance within financial reporting including extraction and analysis of data from multiple ledgers.
- Documents and ensures recording of appropriate accounting treatment for all items impacting financial statements and SEC reporting and compliance issues and communicates to management.
- Preparation and coordination of investor relations activities including SEC filings and press releases for periodic earnings announcements, presentation materials for investor relations events and other tasks as needed
- Project manages short-term initiatives with department scope. Develops timelines, Gantt charts, activity logs, schedules and facilitates recurring team meetings, writes business requirements, may write software test scripts and guide testers as well as drafts communications and job aids.
- Self manages workload-negotiating deadlines to meet expectations. Takes the initiative to discuss assignments, expectations, priorities and deadlines as well as seek guidance and coaching from manager. Adjusts quickly to new work structures, processes, requirements or cultures.
- Completes complex and unique assignments independently. Applies experience and knowledge of industry, company, policies, and regulations to resolve or recommend solutions. Discusses escalated issue recommendations with manager. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Recommends efficiencies to team and manager. Documents work as part of deliverables, resulting in high quality materials for internal and external usage. Writes standard operating procedures (SOP) and develops job aids. May train colleagues on department procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA or Working towards CPA preferred
Experience
- At least four (4) years’ Financial Reporting work experience accurately preparing various filings
- Working knowledge of US GAAP, SEC rules and regulations and internal controls
- Working knowledge of accounting for share-based compensation in accordance with ASC718
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of regulations
- Experience with ERP systems (ie SAP, Oracle)
