Internship candidates can expect a full-time onsite internship program, running from May 29, 2025 to August 8, 2025. Internship candidates who are relocating for the summer internship opportunity are eligible for round-trip airline/train travel and mileage reimbursement to and from your internship location and company-provided housing for the duration of the summer internship program in accordance with the company's relocation policy.
Carefully selected from universities across the country, our interns bring distinctive ideas and perspectives to our organization. Financial Data Science/Analytics Internship
As a Financial Data Science Intern, you will work alongside your hiring manager, mentor, and team to complete tasks critical for Northwestern Mutual's success. Financial Data Scientist - As a Financial Data Scientist Intern, you will support workstreams develop data driven solutions by tying quantitative measures to key business issues. This includes deriving insights from data and use visualizations to answer key business questions. Through team exposure and interaction with internal business clients, you will be able to influence others by story-telling through data, visualizing recommendations for forecasts, metrics, and sophisticated data sets.
Bring Your Best! What this role needs. Minimum qualifications
- Pursuing bachelor's in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology, and majoring or minoring in Finance or Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university
- Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- Previous work or classroom experience in one or more of the following: SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI, and other data & visualization tools
- Employer immigration sponsorship is not available for this role
Preferred skills and proficiencies
- Previous internship and/or relevant project experience
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Self-starter who is goal-directed, resourceful, analytical, innovative, and intellectually curious
- Shown analytical and problem-solving ability
- High degree of self-motivation, passion, and a strive to learn
- Ability to balance multiple priorities
- Databricks or Snowflake experience is a plus
- Experience sourcing, cleansing, and combining datasets from disparate sources
- Passion for problem solving, research, quantitative analysis, and analytical working techniques
- Very organized with high attention to detail
