About the Team:
The Dow Jones Finance team is responsible for global financial support in four key areas: Global Financial Operations (GFO), Financial Management Accounting (FMA), Tax and Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A). The team covers everything from back-office functions like payroll and customer billing to tax compliance, audit management and budgeting and forecasting.
About the Role:
Reporting to The Finance Manager, FMA (EMEA & LATAM).
You will be responsible for several Companies based in Europe and/ or Latin America, the Financial Accountant will work with the Manager to ensure that the accounting records for the entities under your control are complete, accurate and prepared in accordance with the relevant local accounting standards.
You will perform necessary month end tasks, ensure balance sheet reconciliations are kept up to date and perform the year end close and the statutory audit process.
This role also partners with the regional Tax team to support the tax compliance filings for the region's entities.
You Will:
- Perform the necessary month end checks and balances to ensure that the figures are recorded and are complete.
- Prepare reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts under your responsibility in a timely manner.
- Interrogate the ledgers and clean up any historic issues in the areas under your control.
- Assist with the audit and preparation of annual statutory accounts.
- Partner with the tax team to ensure appropriate returns are filed in a timely fashion and in compliance with local rules.
- Process local invoices in SAP.
- Prepare financial statements and work closely with third party accountants to convert financial statements from US GAAP to local GAAP.
- Work with the US based AP, AR and GL teams to ensure that all entries from the different sub-ledgers are accurately recorded in SAP.
- Work closely with supporting local accountants and lawyers to ensure compliance with local laws and accounting standards.
- Assist with project and process improvement work as and when it arises.
- Foster a team environment that is open to and adapts to change, process improvements and problem solving strategies.
- Communicate in a self aware and collaborative style in order to manage and align with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

You Have:
- Qualified Accountant with 3-6 years of industry experience
- Experience preparing financial statements under IFRS and UK GAAP.
- Manage relationships with third parties responsible for preparation of locally compliant documentation for accounting and tax.
- Work in a multinational organisation with multiple currency transactions and keeping management and statutory books.
- Exposure to month end and year end close process in a commercial environment.
- Good working knowledge of excel. E.g vlookup, pivots, sumif etc.
- Proactive flexible attitude with a track record of implementing positive change.
- Excellent time management, communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and get things done in a timely manner.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
