Job Summary:

The North America Insurance finance team is looking for an FP&A Manager to join our New York office with periodic visits to the US headquarters in Warren, New Jersey. This is a hybrid position working 3 days in office and 2 remote.

The FP&A Manager will report to the Finance Business Partner for the Retail Casualty and Retail Property lines of business and will primarily be responsible for providing financial reporting and analytical support for these businesses. They will take a lead role in preparing and delivering the full underwriting P&L and supporting commentary during quarter close cycles, support monthly forecasting and annual planning processes, and provide adhoc analysis to key stakeholders across various functions (underwriting, claims, actuarial, etc.). The Manager will also work closely with the Head of North America FP&A to support deliverables and objectives across all North America businesses.

Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Financial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive financial analysis of business segment, including revenue, expenses, and profitability. Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends to provide insights and recommendations for improvement. Review quarterly financial results and provide challenge where necessary to ensure financial reporting is accurate at the business segment level.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop annual budgets and monthly forecasts in collaboration with finance and business leadership. Monitor financial performance against targets and provide regular variance analysis, highlighting risks and opportunities.

  • Financial Planning and Strategy: Assist in the development of long-term financial plans and strategic initiatives. Provide financial insights to support decision-making.

  • Business Partnering: Collaborate on financial projects, initiatives, and operational improvements, ensuring alignment with overall objectives.

  • Performance Measurement: Track key performance metrics to assess the financial trends and operational efficiency of business segment. Prepare management reports and presentations to communicate results and recommendations.

  • Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including underwriting, claims, actuarial, and operations. Provide financial insights and support in discussions, meetings, and strategic planning sessions.

  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance our financial processes and reporting to streamline workflows and increase efficiency.

  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with the finance team and other internal stakeholders, fostering a culture of teamwork and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g. CPA, CFA) is a plus.

  • 3-5 years of insurance finance experience preferred.

  • Experience with financial reporting systems and business intelligence tools (Oracle, IBM, Anaplan, etc.) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Competences:

  • Strong knowledge of P&C insurance products and industry-specific financial metrics.

  • Proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and performance measurement.

  • Skills in financial modeling, scenario testing, and data analysis (e.g. Excel or other financial planning tools)

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of GAAP and Statutory accounting rules.

  • Attention to detail, analytical mindset, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

For NY Only: The base salary range for this position is $95,000 - $130,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
