Position summary:
Join the Ocean Surcharges & Value-Added Services (VAS) team in Europe to drive business decisions, optimize our product portfolio, and identify growth opportunities. As a finance professional, you'll play a key role in executing strategy and shaping future finance practices.
You will own the Maersk Operating System (MOS), ensuring timely, data-driven insights for decision-making across multiple stakeholders, from regional teams to global executives.
Role Purpose:
- Be a trusted business partner for the Ocean Contract Management team in the Europe Region, assuring that the drivers and levers for achieving the business targets are well understood and applied appropriately.
- Generate insights for Product and Process improvement through financial modelling and analysis.
- Support Product & Functional Transformation.
- Improve Ocean profitability and performance of the Ocean Market must win battles.
- Own performance management in the respective team.
Key Responsibilities:
You will support and engage in business decision making within the Ocean Value Added space, by providing deep dive analysis, management reporting, performance management and financial forecasts.
You will understand the product life cycles and be able to provide insights for driving the performance simultaneously of different products in fast-paced business we work in.
Performance Management
Being a Business partner to the Regional Ocean Management team which supports our customers ocean transportation needs.
- Driving value creation by performance management across departments, i.e.: KPI, Target setting, Budgeting (Annually and Quarterly), and Reporting.
- Acting as a focal person who drives monthly Performance Review with the various Area Ocean managers and regional leadership providing analytical insight on products’ performance monthly.
- Being a sparring partner as well as driving discussions and initiatives to improve performance for Ocean Transportation. Sharing and ensuring local adoption of best practices.
- Actively collaborating and providing business support across the Ocean Product community.
- Ensuring standardized reporting landscape is in place and applied on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
- Providing performance visibility and in-depth root cause analysis on performance fluctuations to drive Ocean profitability.
- Providing analytical support and problem solving for specific products/functions/ customer cases to promote business growth, as well as on ad hoc need.
- Develop custom reports along with the data team to drive performance for the Ocean product.
- Drive effective usage of Business Intelligence for forward looking performance discussions.
Project management
- Play a vital role supporting, enabling business stakeholders in implementing the Integrator Strategy.
- Be the finance focal to engage and collaborate on cross functional level with regard to Ocean Surcharges and VAS products.
- Provide Market Intelligence and Product Insights to support the drive Ocean profitability.
Who we're looking for:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business Administration
- Experience from working as a Business Partner, or from similar roles acting as an advisor towards management and/or business stakeholders (FP&A, or similar)
- Partnering mindset – effective stakeholder management skills and able to build effective trusted relationships, connecting with stakeholders/teams in the organization
- Self-starter – able to manage the regular deliverables with the ad hoc and to identify where to invest more time for the better outcome – without requiring step by step guidance
- Proven analytical skills, being able to zoom in on the relevant details, while never losing sight of the big picture. Conveying insights extracted from data into concise, commonly understood business language for effective decision-making. Ability to simplify and improve inefficient or unnecessarily complex processes.
- Has a visible drive for results, inspires others to strive higher and does not bind by functional and leadership level boundaries.
