Role Overview:
We are seeking a Finance and Compliance Manager for our Contest Every Race program to manage finances and ensure compliance with IRS and FEC campaign spending regulations across multiple for-profit, non-profit, and campaign finance entities. This role will be embedded in all three program verticals of CER and be responsible for operationalizing program plans that stretch across multiple Movement Labs entities and political or electoral jurisdictions (federal, state, local). The ideal candidate will have experience making rapid financial decisions, know how to set up, analyze and explain complex financial reports, and be able to translate complex accounting and compliance rules to Democratic volunteers at the county level and their coworkers on the same day.
This position offers an opportunity to play a crucial role in supporting democracy and progressive causes through effective financial management and compliance. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and passionate about political finance and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management: 50%
- Track and manage spending across the organization’s for-profit, non-profit, and PAC entities.
- Serve as a financial integrator between the 3 CER departments (Political, Recruitment, and Candidate Success), organizational leadership, and key vendors.
- Work with ED, CER to operationalize the planning and execution of key programs and initiatives.
- Note: this role will not be responsible for organizational or program budgeting, but will be responsible for spend management and tracking.
2. Compliance: 30%
- Closely collaborate with our outside compliance firm and in-house attorney to track and manage multi-entity c4 and electoral spending and reporting.
- Operationalize Movement Labs’ ability to raise and spend money to execute a local, state, and federal independent expenditure program.
- Ensure adherence to campaign finance laws and regulations
- Note: This role is not expected to be responsible for filing campaign finance reports at this time.
3. Client Education and Training 20%
- Create and manage client (state counties and candidates) portal which holds educational, training, and financial materials that set clients up for success.
- Act as a liaison and problem solver between clients, compliance firm, and legal team.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of federal, state, or local campaign finance laws and filing requirements
- Experience with financial management and budget management (3+ years)
- Familiarity with various political entity types (C3, C4, 527, PACs)
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a client-service-facing role (1+ years)
- Previous operations or compliance experience working for a multi-entity organization within a progressive political organization, issue advocacy space or candidate campaign
- Experience with of campaign finance, budgeting, and spend management software and reporting systems (1+ years)
- Start Date: ASAP
- Compensation: $88,400-$94,700, depending on experience & with COLA adjustment
