A Field Operations Technician will be responsible for traveling to various merchant locations to install, troubleshoot and repair point-of-sale systems. You will work independently, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally and providing exceptional service to merchants. Technical expertise in both hardware and software will be crucial in diagnosing issues and implementing effective solutions. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with merchants will be essential for success in this position.


Worksite Location Requirements:

The majority of appointments for onsite services are within the local range (200 miles).  There will be time allocated for administrative and support tasks to be addressed in the office/home. There will be times where you will be needed nationally.


Responsibilities include:

  • Onsite Service Scope:
    • Installation, Configuration, and Training of Skytab POS
    • Site Surveys/ Network Troubleshooting
    • Repair/replacement of network cabling
    • Hardware/Software Troubleshooting
  • Able to test hardware, software, and credit card processing with no or minimal remote support.
  • Post-installation, provide documentation and photos of work performed at each location.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including on call, early mornings, late nights, and weekends, as

Required.

  • Practice safe driving habits.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively on the phone, emails, and work orders.
  • Tracking of expenses and submitting monthly expense reports.
  • Provide installation and feedback on new software/hardware while in beta testing.
  • Inventory management of equipment and requisition.
  • Participate in recurring training of Shift4 product suite.
  • Appointments that take place outside of your local area may require you to be away for several weeks at a time.

Required Qualifications:

  • Good driving record
  • Willingness to travel on short notice
  • Able to work well with hand tools
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Experience running in-wall and exposed cabling
  • Technician background dealing with network/computer troubleshooting or installation
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software, such as Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs
  • Friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing demeanor
  • Ability to learn and retain new information and concepts quickly
  • Ability to follow directions and strong follow-up
  • Proven good judgment and proactive decision-making skills
  • Ability to adapt to change

Nice to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent work
  • Technical certifications such as CompTIA A+, Net+, MCP, etc
  • 2+ years of customer service / technical support experience
  • Experience in the banking/credit card processing industry
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish)
