Field Engineer The Field Engineer is part of Operations team that supports defense projects in Japan.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the point of contact for Engineering and Quality queries related to Thales products, taking ownership of customer related issues affecting in-service products and systems, and providing technical expertise and assistance as required
- Provide technical support onsite or via emails/calls, conduct troubleshooting, fault investigation, repair & re-work, and preparing reports in relation to product issues and maintenance
- Participate in technical meetings at the customer site, and act as the middle person between customer and the Business Line (BL)/Technical Specialists (mostly in Europe) to convey customer requirements or queries(interpretation included.)
- Participate in the final inspection at BL together with customer inspectors and witness inspection at customer site
- Conduct testing and/or support customer testing activities
- Manage demo for Thales product (in case pre-sales activities)
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, management and capitalization
- Support project managers to deliver both goods and test record on time.
- Managing and updating technical documents (Test records, Drawings, Procedures, and Incident reports)
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (preferably circuit design and/or test) or related discipline and/or in Communication /Communication protocol/ SW for communication
- Having experience in optronic/sonar/radar/Radio is a plus
- Experience of customer maintenance engineer (remote/onsite troubleshooting) is a plus
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Ability to manage the communication in front of customer and represent the company during on site visit
- Native proficiency in Japanese and fluency (verbal and written) in English is necessary
- Able to travel within Japan or overseas (duration of 1-2 weeks) typically once every 1 to 2 months, depending on the situation of the project– Opportunity to spend longer period (3-6 months) abroad for extensive training on Thales product for specific project.
- Strong negotiation skills, problem-solving skills and able to present to various Engineering teams
- Keen to take on challenges and see them through till completion
- Team player, strong organization skills, self-motivated
- Having a driving license
