Description
The career level Fastening Quality Coordinator, able to work autonomously with occasional guidance from supervision. Skilled in equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines and facilities necessary for the production of parts. Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity where creativity and initiative is exercised as well as independent judgment.
The Role:
Responsibilities encompass manage / monitoring / overseeing all requirements for fastening processes and torque to ensure that requirements of Global Quality Manual are followed and documented.
- Proficient use of databases, information systems, and solid interpretation of data is a must
- Maintain database and manage updates from process changes and tool changes (tool information, secondary checks, etc).
- Maintain torque database for each vehicle model.
- Manage a regular APM system downloads and managing discrepancies to ensure good data is provided to production processes.
- Support and communicate with plant Torque Coordinator
- Establish torque monitor routes to monitor all critical torque specifications per shift requirements, and standard care torque per monthly requirements or as needed.
- Provide updated information to torque monitors and production team leaders
- Work with Quality Requirements Lead to maintain updated and new Quality Requirements.
- Oversee/support the management of the torque monitor (static torque measurement process) team to ensure processes are followed and standardized work is well defined and followed.
- Support prompt response to out-of-standard conditions in production to support containment, problem resolution, risk assessment and corrective actions. Communicate with Design Engineers as required.
- Assist with correlation studies for static / dynamic torque for fasteners having an issue.
- Participate in weekly plant Standardization meeting and initiatives. Quality Department Rep.
- Provide support to VAA (value added assembler) suppliers as required. Support their facility through audits and clear communications and relationships.
- Participate as a member of the GMNA GA Fastening Community.
- Support weekly EWO (Engineering Work Order) meetings.
- Monitor and follow up on EWOs, TWOs (Temporary Work Orders) and PFCMs (Plant Floor Change Management.
- Use of great people skills to establish solid working relationships inside and outside the plant (peers, leadership, operators, and resources).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent training/experience, Technical degree preferred
- Proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Applications
- Ability to learn complex systems unique to the GM Torque Industry
- Ability to interpret large amounts of data
- 5+ years relevant experience (i.e., quality control, manufacturing, statistics)
