The Failure Analysis Engineer is responsible for identifying the root cause of failure, testing and diagnosing products, monitoring product behavior, writing and sharing reports, drawing conclusions on occurred failures and making recommendations.
General Responsibilities
∙ Participates in the evaluation of the electrical and mechanical characteristics of systems and/or integrated circuits, components, sub-components and systems to determine the cause of failure, including the verification of analog and digital performance.
∙ Analyzes Overall fall outs from production trough usage methodologies like 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa (Fishbone) diagrams, and FMEA.
∙ Work with directly with Process development engineering, Quality, Production, and Suppliers to address failure issues and further improvements in supply chain or assembly process
∙ Conduct process capability studies (Cp, Cpk) and reliability testing. Analyze process failures and suggest improvements to reduce scrap rates and production downtime
∙ Develops methods, processes, procedures and equipment that will improve the failure analysis process and/or reduce failures
∙ Participates in product returns and Conduct product failure analysis
∙ Meet and exceed internal and external Service Level Agreements
∙ Maintain daily productivity / workflow reports
∙ Maintain, review and update process documentation on a regular basis
∙ Ability to read blueprints, specifications and engineering changes
Experience / Qualifications
∙ A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors` degree) or equivalent relevant work experience
∙ Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
∙ Knowledge of materials science, mechanical properties, and electrical connections (High Voltage/ Current/ Resistance
∙ Experience with data analysis and statistical tools (Minitab, MATLAB, etc.).
∙ Strong communication skills both in Bulgarian and English; oral, written and presentation
∙ Experience with process control, SPC (Statistical Process Control), and DOE.
∙ Hands-on knowledge of failure analysis tools (SEM, X-ray, spectroscopy, etc.).
∙ Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
∙ Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
∙ Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
