About MotherDuck

Don’t let the quirky name fool you! We’re on a mission to radically transform the data analyst user experience. We empower and delight analysts using a novel cloud architecture built on top of DuckDB, an open source foundation with a vibrant community. Our team is a diverse mix of passionate, collaborative and empathetic data industry veterans from Google, Amazon, Meta, Snowflake, SingleStore, Databricks, Looker and the like.

What You Will Do

At MotherDuck, we believe events should be more than just gatherings—they should be unforgettable experiences that build relationships, spark ideas, and leave people quacking about them. We’re looking for an Event Marketer to lead the charge in creating high-impact, creative, and engaging events that elevate our brand and bring our community together.

This role is a hybrid role based in our San Francisco office.

  • Plan and execute first-party events—from brand-building conferences to intimate dinners, lively parties, hands-on workshops, and technical meetups.

  • Drive sponsorships and activations at key industry conferences, ensuring MotherDuck makes a splash in all the right places.

  • Design event experiences that balance education and fun, keeping our technical audience engaged while making sure every event is memorable.

  • Experiment with unorthodox and unexpected event strategies to elevate our brand through experiential marketing. If there's a quirky, standout way to make an impact, we want you to find it!

  • Collaborate across teams (marketing, sales, developer relations, product, engineering) to align event strategy with business goals and ensure we’re engaging the right audiences.

  • Manage event logistics from start to finish—venue selection, vendor negotiation, speaker coordination, and seamless onsite execution.

  • Measure event success using data and feedback to continuously improve and optimize for impact.

What You Bring

  • Proven track record of leading event planning and execution, ideally in B2B tech or SaaS, with a portfolio showcasing successful experiential events.

  • A strategic mindset with the ability to plan, execute, and measure high-impact events.

  • A creative, out-of-the-box approach to event design and experiential marketing.

  • Strong project management skills, able to juggle multiple events and deadlines without ruffling feathers.

  • Experience working with event platforms, marketing automation tools, and CRM systems.

  • A passion for building community and crafting meaningful, educational, and fun experiences for technical audiences.

  • A “get it done” attitude with a love for fast-paced, scrappy environments.

What people should be saying if you’re doing ducking awesome

  • “I’m not sure who picked the caterers for the Small Data conference, but it was off-the-charts great.”

  • “That was seriously the best coffee I have ever had at any professional event in my career, bar none”.

  • “Amazing choices on the speaker lineup, workshops, and overall program.”

  • “Very high quality attendees and speakers. Just amazing individuals who were super inspiring and got me really thinking about something new.”

  • “Solid talks that genuinely made me think about how to reapproach architecture and demonstrating ROI”

  • “Every time we sponsor a conference, we stand out in the best way. Our booth is always buzzing, our speakers are in high demand, and our presence feels intentional and impactful.  Most importantly, the conversations we have and the leads we get are pushing the company forward!”

  • “(MotherDuck is) known not only for their best in class data analytics product but also for unparalleled event experience. Kudos to the team for seamlessly blending tech and fun!”

  • “Full of rock stars at MotherDuck’s after party, aka the Afterparty of the Century!”

All except one are actual quotes!  Though these quotes are heavily weighted to event experience, we believe a lot of good business flows from there: conversations, leads and pipeline!

What we provide

  • Feather-ruffling compensation – competitive salary and stock options so you have a stake in our flock’s success.

  • Top-notch healthcare coverage – 100% paid medical, dental, and vision for employees, plus 80% coverage for dependents (because we care about your whole nest).

  • Unlimited PTO – take the time you need to recharge, explore, or just have a lazy day by the pond.

  • 401k plan – because even ducks need to plan for the future.

  • Legendary company events – we bring the whole flock together twice a year for unforgettable summits in fun locations, plus 1-2 team gatherings a year to keep our bonds strong.

  • Hybrid work environment – Spend three days a week in the office collaborating with the flock, and work from wherever you’re most productive the rest of the time—whether that’s your home office, a coffee shop, or a peaceful lakeside retreat.

Please Apply

Does this role sound appealing to you, but you’re missing some of the requirements or don’t quite think you’re qualified?  Please apply anyway.
