Job Description:
A vacancy for a Certification Qualification Engineer NH90 Program has arisen within Airbus Helicopters.
You will join the Airworthiness Office of Airbus Helicopters in Marignane and become part of the Chief Airworthiness Engineer's (CAE) Team for NH90 Program to support the safety of our products by managing the Certification, Qualification and initial Airworthiness activities for your program. This includes new helicopter type certification, changes to existing helicopter type certificates and flight clearances.
Each Project involves various contributors (Chief Engineering, designers, internal and external specialists, customer support, prototype shop, Final Assembly Line, ...).
As Certification Qualification Engineer you will be the focal point for the Airworthiness Authorities with whom you will negotiate the certification basis as well as the certification strategy and means of compliance (lab/ground/flight testing, Safety analysis...) and authority involvement (document acceptance, test witnessing, in-house reviews...).
As Certification/Qualification Engineer you will be responsible to ensure demonstration of compliance to the applicable airworthiness requirements, to ensure their in-service safety. You will be responsible for leading the Certification and Qualification activities necessary to meet the NH90 development and deliveries milestones.
This results in a challenging transverse position, including negotiation internally but also with Aviation Authorities world-wide, with great responsibilities, and a good overview on our products, on our systems and on our organization.
This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
Task & accountabilities :
Your mission is to perform the certification and qualification activities of the NH90 Helicopter, in an international environment with its industrial partners, within the transnational team of the Chief Airworthiness Engineer. You will join NH90 Airworthiness Support Team, and work mainly on NH90 qualification steps projects.
To achieve this you have to:
- Identify/define/harmonize the applicable Certification / Qualification requirements for the scope of modifications you were allocated.
- Define the Certification/qualification Logics, elaborate and harmonize internally and externally (Airworthiness Authorities) the certification & qualification plans, including the identification of the Means of Compliance and associated demonstrations of compliance.
- Coordinate the creation and delivery of those compliance demonstrations in accordance with the general milestones provided by the Project team
- Validate those demonstrations of compliance and harmonize them with Authorities and Nations.
- Produce the certification / qualification synthesis documents and harmonize them with authorities.
In Parallel, the position may offer the opportunity to:
- Work on the other fields of certification, such as Flight Clearances, Repairs, Concessions, Tech pub stand-alone changes, or Post-TC topics.
- Depending your activities, you could also be part of the associated procedures harmonization when needed.
- Promote our Roles & Responsibilities and associated processes within Airbus Helicopter and in front of our Authorities.
- Be the point of contact of all Airworthiness/Qualification topics relative to one or several NH90 versions (and/or qualification Steps) in front of internal customers/suppliers (LF, Project, Configuration ...) as well as external ones (authorities, partners).
- Become authorized signatory and responsible within the design assurance system including the whole process of certification and qualification
- Manage a transversal team for a given certification/qualification project
- Required skills :
You will have the following skills and experience:
- Educated to a 5 years’ degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of overall experience
- Experience in certification would be a plus
- Experienced in project management
- Good level of communication
- Comfortable in negotiation situations
- Language Skills: Advanced level of English and French
