ChristianaCare is excited to transition from Cerner to Epic as the EHR across our sites of care!

This role is a HYBRID position with minimum on-site requirement of 2 days a week. Must be within a commutable distance.

Epic certification preferred; if not certified, must become Epic certified within 3 weeks of completing the mandatory Epic training sessions.

Must be available to travel for Epic training beginning the week of 3/31/2025. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Organizational Development/Effectiveness, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related discipline) required.
  • Advanced degree (e.g., Master's in Organizational Development/Effectiveness, MBA, or related field) is preferred.
  • Certification in change management methodology preferred (e.g., Prosci, ACMP)
  • 10+ years of experience in organizational change management, managing large-scale change initiatives (e.g., EHR implementations, ERP implementations or other large-scale implementations with impacts across people, process and technology).
  • Demonstrated experience in working and influencing senior leaders as part of a large-scale implementation work.
  • Demonstrated experience leading change program within health care system, including understanding dynamics and needs of provider and caregiver groups.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing and understanding organizational culture and building change programs that complement existing values & behaviors incorporating best practice & innovative approaches to advance the culture to enable agility for sustainment & growth.

Primary Function:

The primary function of the Organizational Change Management Director is to lead and oversee the strategic direction and execution of change management, communication and training efforts across the Epic EHR implementation and integrate them within the ChristianaCare organization. This role involves communicating regularly across impacted stakeholders, managing the scope, schedule, and quality of change, communication and training deliverables, and ensuring that changes and new ways of working that Epic will bring are delivered across the organization.

The OCM Director will work closely with executive leadership, Epic VP and leadership team, the training team and leaders and consultants to guide change management strategies, build and implement change, communication and training plans, manage risks and issues, and build change capability within ChristianaCare in alignment with organizational culture. The OCM Director will be accountable for preparing all impacted stakeholders for Epic, aligning leaders and equipping them to engage caregivers, and realizing adoption targets and metrics for the Epic implementation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support the strategic direction for change management, communication and training for the Epic implementation in alignment with other strategic initiatives at ChristianaCare.
  • Build a roadmap for change, communications and training to support Epic implementation that includes timelines, deliverables, milestones, and measures of success. Manage the roadmap using project management methods and tools supported by ChristianaCare.
  • Lead and manage a team of change management, communication and training professionals, ensuring alignment and effective support for the Epic implementation.
  • Set clear expectations for change, communication and training team members and align and embed their work across the Epic project team pillars (e.g., clinical, revenue cycle, technical).
  • Align the Epic change management program with executive leadership and other senior managers.
  • Ensure engagement of the system leaders (e.g., people leaders, frontline managers, and supervisors) in the Epic implementation and equip them with information, tools, and resources to engage caregivers.
  • Advise and coach leadership on change management issues, key success factors, and lessons learned. Serve as a leadership contact for change management related to Epic across ChristianaCare.
  • Lead comprehensive change impact assessment to support Epic implementation to ensure that change and impacts are documented, verified, and validated and then leveraged in communication, readiness, and training deliverables.
  • Reinforce the importance of change management work and provide consistent communication to the Epic project team.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to change management strategies and plans.
  • Guide the design of change management, communication and training plans, and ensure quality and realization of readiness and adoption metrics for the Epic implementation.
