Position Purpose : To manage smooth flow of ETP operations as per defined parameters
Job Summary: The Environment Specialist in a food manufacturing unit is responsible for ensuring optimal environmental practices within the effluent treatment plant (ETP). This includes maintaining influent quality and quantity, enforcing safety policies, managing PCB data, coordinating with relevant personnel, and generating performance reports.
Key Accountabilities:
- Continuously monitor and maintain the quality and quantity of influent water entering the ETP to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Implement corrective actions promptly when deviations from the required standards occur, ensuring that the treatment process remains effective and efficient.
- Ensure the complete implementation of safety policies within the department.
- Conduct daily safety meetings to highlight and address any safety concerns, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols in each activity undertaken.
- Accurately maintain PCB data, ensuring all records are updated timely and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Utilize PCB data to analyze trends and make informed decisions regarding environmental practices and improvements.
- Regularly monitor the treatment processes to ensure they are operating optimally.
- Take necessary corrective actions to address any inefficiencies or issues in the treatment process to maintain the plant's smooth operation.
- Ensure all equipment necessary for the ETP's operation is available and functioning correctly at all times.
- Work closely with plant operating personnel to address any issues related to plant performance and operations.
- Communicate effectively with the manager to discuss plant issues and performance metrics.
- Collaborate with maintenance personnel to ensure the smooth running of ETP operations.
- Schedule regular maintenance checks and oversee repairs to keep the plant in optimal condition.
- Generate detailed ETP performance reports and share them with the manager, providing insights into operational efficiency and areas for improvement.
- Ensure the highest standards of housekeeping are maintained throughout the entire ETP plant.
- Implement practices that promote cleanliness and organization within the plant.
- Oversee ETP operations in the absence of the Executive, ensuring continuity and adherence to established protocols.
Key Competencies Requirement:
- Deep understanding of the operations, services, and activities of a comprehensive effluent treatment plant within the food manufacturing sector.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and how they integrate with environmental practices.
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct the daily work of plant personnel in a safe and efficient manner.
- Proficient in scheduling and managing multiple tasks to ensure seamless plant operations.
- Knowledge of hazardous chemicals used within the food manufacturing process and their proper handling and usage.
- Ability to educate and train personnel on chemical safety and handling procedures.
- Experience in supervision, training, and performance evaluation of plant personnel.
- Ability to mentor and develop staff to enhance their skills and performance.
- Proficiency in basic computer operations, including data management and report generation.
- Familiarity with software and tools used for environmental monitoring and compliance.
- Knowledge of PCB norms, environmental regulations, and disposal methods relevant to the food manufacturing industry.
- Ability to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal standards.
Qualification and Experience:
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Experience:
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in environmental management, preferably within the food manufacturing industry.
