Job Description

We are looking for an Engineering Team Leader to work on our broad based business based in our new facility in Bellshill, Glasgow. This is a successful branch dealing with many customers/orders that requires quick design turnaround. Therefore, you will be responsible for planning the design resources, providing hands on engineering support and checking of schemes. You will be working directly with our Sales Managers and will have involvement with other design team leaders & on occasions with specialist support teams at our HQ. The role will offer opportunities to engage with customers.

Main duties and other tasks:

  • You are responsible for the end to end project planning (including material listing, offer drawings, shop drawings, coordinating projects) and client support agreement with the internal and external stakeholders. 
  • You coordinate the verification of projects by statics department or to others. 
  • You ensure team members and yourself coordinates with internal and external stakeholders according to technical rules 
  • You share your experience and expertise in the form of active speaker during trainings, meeting, information sharing. and you actively assist in innovation and optimization process
  • You are to prepare and discuss with your team members on their targets and performance achieved while aligning the measures to company goals 
  • You understand team member’s technical challenges and provide guidance to team member on finding solutions.

Qualifications

  • A qualification in Civil, Mechanical or Construction engineering, preferably a degree.
  • Several years formwork design experience,
  • Preferably a mix of knowledge from the building and infrastructure sectors would be beneficial.
  • Previous experience in a management role is preferred, but consideration will be given to experienced engineers with project management, checking and supervisory experience who are looking to make a step into a leadership role.
  • Experience of the Scottish market would be beneficial
  • Excellent skills in AutoCAD 2D and Microsoft Office
  • Strong statics skills would be beneficial.
  • An interest in BIM would also be advantageous.
  • Past evidence of managing complex projects will be advantageous. A good understanding of project management would be preferred.
  • Well-developed analytical skills and technical proficiency 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while adhering to strict deadlines and budgets

  • Ability to communicate professionally to clients and internal stake holders while providing the best solutions for both parties 
  • Due to the fast paced environment of our Bellshill office, there is a strong need for good collaboration between Sales/Customer/Operations teams
  • A good listener and ability to diagnose client requirements 
  • Able to work independently and as a team player in a results-driven, fast-paced environment 
  • Flexibility to adjust the planning of the team to meet the changing priorities of the sales team and to meet the customer needs.
  • Hands-on mentality and engaged personality, confident attitude
  • Capable of developing excellent collaboration with the design team and encourage continuous development of the individuals and of the engineering processes.
  • Ability to work under pressure, take ownership of tasks, delegate and consistently hit agreed deadlines.
