Job Description
BAE Systems, a leader in the defense industry, has an immediate need for a Engineering Project Manager to manage internal governance activities with focus on CMMI appraisals, internal corrective action audit finding closeouts, and internal quality reviews.
The Engineering Project Manager will support any of our various Combat Mission Systems (CMS) programs. Sterling Heights, MI; York, PA or Stafford, VA CMS sites are preferred work locations.
You will lead and directly perform activities such as, but not limited to, the following: manage schedule, budget and resources in support of a CMMI V3.0 appraisal in 2026; review of existing systems engineering and engineering processes for gaps compared to CMMI V3.0 practices, review of existing systems engineering and engineering processes for gaps compared to current product development needs, review of existing processes in comparison to current training and identify gaps in training needs, support development of training where gaps exist, update existing processes to resolve identified gaps, generate new processes and templates to resolve identified gaps, provide recommendations to internal quality audit findings, conduct trend analysis of internal quality audit findings and internal program review findings.

Responsibilities:

  • Documenting action items and working with subject matter experts and actionees in updating status in accordance with project schedule and budget.
  • Ensure necessary artifacts are generated in support of successful CMMI audit in March 2026.
  • Review existing systems engineering and engineering processes and compare against existing training documents.
  • Ensure the engineering processes are integrated with program management and support processes
  • Develop training materials for processes without training documents
  • Develop new processes and best practices templates for engineering and systems engineering utilizing Work, Excel or Powerpoint including generation of simple graphics and flow diagrams.
  • Review existing processes based on CMMI V3.0 and AS9100 requirements, and ensure the measurement processes and resulting data support management's objectives
  • Review process database for processes and templates necessary to conduct identified systems engineering and engineering business needs
  • Review of databases including excel spreadsheets for actual costs compared against predicted costs for use in cost estimation process updates


Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelors Degree with 6+ years of experience
  • Experience with participating on or leading an Engineering Process Group or Process Improvement activity
  • Experience with CMMI V3.0 appraisals
  • Expertise utilizing Word, Excel, and PowerPoint including being able to generate basic graphics/flow diagram
  • Logical thinker (able to communicate in detailed step by step instructions)
  • Ability to do research in online search tools and document reviews for information
  • Experience with interfacing with multiple subject matter experts for generating and tracking action items
  • Possess strong writing skills


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Certified Quality Auditor
  • Experience performing ISO or APQP audits
  • Ability to effectively develop analysis of processes and procedures and identify improvements
  • Ability to manage day to day activities with the team with minimal support from management.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $105254 - $178931
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
