Who are we? (Team) - We are the Engineering team. We exist to build the products and automation that will drive Liberis’ exponential growth in the embedded finance market.There are 80 of us based around the UK, we split ourselves into domain aligned teams working on a specific part of our product offering: Merchant Experience, Partner Experience, Internal Tooling, Funding, Decisioning, Pricing, & Targeting; as well as across a few supporting functions: DevEx, Data, Architecture, & support. Our mission is to build composable, modular technology platforms that will close the global SME funding gap. Who are you? (The role) - As an Engineering Manager at Liberis, you lead a cross functional team that will deliver key product and platform initiatives that impact our core business. You will lead a group of engineers who are dedicated to solving complex problems, driving innovation, and supporting our mission to empower SMEs globally.
Responsibilities
- Line manage a team of 3-8 software engineers, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical strategy.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver high quality, customer-focused solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement in the team’s delivery processes, optimizing for speed, quality, and customer impact.
- Own the technical direction and health of the services your team builds, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Mentor and guide the career development of your engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
- Stay close to the technical details, participating in code reviews and providing input on architecture and design decisions.
- Lead by example, encouraging best practices in engineering, including Agile methodologies, CI/CD, DevOps, and test automation.
- Manage the operational and budgetary aspects of your team’s services, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with other engineering teams and departments to achieve company-wide goals.
We think you’ll need
- Proven experience leading software engineering teams, either as an engineering manager or technical lead.
- Strong technical background, with experience in building and maintaining technology products in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in at least two programming languages (e.g., C#, .NET, Node, React), with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Deep understanding of modern software development practices, including CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and test automation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across different functions and levels of the organization.
- A customer-centric mindset, using data and feedback to guide decision making and prioritise work.
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, with a focus on developing high performing teams.
- Resilience and adaptability in fast-changing environments where experimentation and iteration are necessary.
