Reddit is looking for an Engineering Manager to support our Answers Experience team. Reddit Answers is a new AI-powered search experience that makes it effortless to see what real humans think about almost any topic in the world. Our goal is to make Reddit the best place on the internet to find answers, opinions, and conversations. Redditors produce the most amazing content about every niche topic – this underleveraged data coupled with modern advances in AI systems is presenting a unique opportunity to quickly build a new kind of search engine. In this role, you will support a team of mobile, frontend, and backend engineers, partner closely with a variety of AI/ML relevance and infra teams, and ship delightful new product experiences.
Responsibilities
Technical
- Deliver high-quality delightful new AI/search experiences
- Support engineers on the team by helping them develop their skills, find impact, and execute effectively
- Set technical and product direction for Answers
- Collaborate effectively with multiple product, infra, and ranking teams.
Hiring
- Reddit Search will grow quickly during your tenure at Reddit, and our engineering managers are directly responsible for scaling up their teams.
- Identify your team’s needs, write job descriptions, source, interview, and help close candidates.
- You will have the support of our incredible recruiting team to bring diverse and talented engineers into Reddit.
Career Development
- Help your engineers identify career goals and create development plans to achieve them.
- Constantly seek opportunities to push your engineers & managers outside their comfort zone and turn followers into leaders.
Organizational Alignment
- Serve as a thought partner to product and upper management to ensure your team’s plans align with company goals.
- Communicate your team’s work and set expectations with cross-functional stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 3+ years supporting engineers as a manager
- Some experience working on a relevance driven product (either as an engineer or an EM)
- Background as a product engineer with a track record of building some consumer products that people love
- Familiar with fast moving, dynamic, cross-functional teams
- Strong focus on user experience, high empathy, excellent communication skills

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, skills, depth of work experience and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below.
The base pay range for this position is:
$217,000—$303,900 USD
