Your Opportunity as an Engineering Lead

Directly responsible for assisting the Engineering department with the assignment and coordination and/or execution of activities within the Engineering group to ensure a productive workforce that supports the facility. Oversee planning and preparation of work orders for work to be performed by the respective engineers to ensure the plant is maintained in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner.
 

Location: 2035 N Narragansett Ave, Chicago, IL 60639 (Hostess Manufacturing Plant)

Work Arrangements: 100% on-site, 2nd Shift: 2pm-10:30pm (Flexibility required.)  

Compensation Base Rate: $38.52/hr

In this Role You Will:  

  • Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel.

  • Monitor employees' work levels and review work performance.

  • Monitor tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of shops to ensure adequate working conditions.

  • Counsel employees about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.

  • Conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.

  • Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.

  • Inspect, test, and measure completed work, using devices such as hand tools and gauges to verify conformance to standards and repair requirements.

  • Requisition materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, and replacement parts.

  • Perform skilled repair and maintenance operations, using equipment such as hand and power tools, hydraulic presses and shears, and welding equipment.

  • Effectively oversee maintenance personnel to ensure that all assigned activities are performed effectively and efficiently in accordance with plant procedures and local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Oversee preparation of work instructions that provide direction to the Engineering Department for corrective maintenance repairs, performance of preventive maintenance and the implementation of modifications.

  • Generating daily maintenance and shift reports

What We are Looking For:  

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Requires high school diploma, or equivalent. 

  • 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • 2-5 years of industrial maintenance experience

  • Ability to trouble shooting equipment to ensure optimum efficiency and product quality

  • Effective Oral and Written Communication

  • Personal Computer Skills - Literate with MS Excel, Word.

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:  

  • Additional post-secondary education is preferred (i.e.: Technical of Vocational education) in areas of industrial engineering.

  • Industrial maintenance certifications highly preferred

  • Prefer previous safety training

  • Previous work experience in industrial engineering preferred.

  • Training in electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics

  • Industrial electricity courses, welding, PLC, pneumatic or other mechanic courses extremely desirable.

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment and manufacturing sites can be loud.

  • Climb stairs and ladders, standing on, and moving around on platforms, equipment and concrete floors

  • Ability to occasionally squat, twist or bend at the knees and back, and work above shoulders (11-33%)

  • Regularly required to use hands and arms for reaching/grasping /handling/ fine finger manipulation (67-100%)

  • Maneuver in tight spaces

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs. (67-100%)

  • Frequently lift objects up to 50 lbs. using proper lifting techniques (34 – 66%)

  • Occasionally required to move items of 55-80 lbs. from one place to another and up to 100 pounds with assistance (11-33%).

  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment including safety glasses, hearing protection, and bump caps

  • Operate a computer to input data, review data, and communicate via email
